Classroom Art Projects
Time to choose a project lead!
We're Jump Starting the Auction Classroom Art Program
The famous Alvarado Auction is around the corner on March 14th, which is why we need your help identifying the leader and assistants for your classroom's auction art project. Please identify a leader and helpers by November 18th and complete the following form.
What is the Classroom Art Program?
Each classroom, working with a group of parents, produces its own unique work of art, which is then sold in our silent auction. Not only is this a great way for parents to spend time in their child’s classroom, it’s a unique opportunity for the students to work together on a class art project.
The class art projects have historically raised up to $55,000 which has been between 25 - 35% of our total auction proceeds each year. Proceeds raised at auction now cover almost HALF of our annual PTA budget.
Art Auction Dates
To give your art project lead an idea of the commitment, you could reference the following deadlines:
Nov 21: Class Art Project informational meeting, 7:45 -8:30 am, location TBD
Nov 21 - Feb 9: Develop project vision and plan with teacher; gather materials for the artwork; create and complete art project with the class
Feb 14: Send a title and brief description of the art piece to Victoria Dye
Feb 21: Finish final touches (for example, get framed, grout tile, coat with resin, etc) and send photo to Victoria Dye
March 2nd: All art projects delivered to designated location (TBD)
March 14th: Designate a parent to bring the art project home at the end of the night and to ensure it gets to the final owner
How Are the Class Art Projects Auctioned?
Families from each classroom pledge donation funds via classroom bid sheets AHEAD of the March 14 Auction. The individual bids are then pooled together to create the “starting bid price” for their classroom’s work of art. Parents present at the Auction will then have the opportunity to outbid the total class bid to take the piece home.
The total amount of funds raised include both the pooled class donations and the individual winning bid.
