A message from Mrs.Anita White, our Title I Facilitator
Dear Wildcat Families,
The first nine weeks is coming to an end. The Wildcats have worked so hard and have already grown and learned so much! Here at Woodard, we take pride in our students and our parents. To be sure that the kiddos are learning all they can, please help us with the following:
- Please have your children at school every day and on time unless they are sick. When students miss, it is very difficult to catch up.
- Students need to come to school each day with what they need-backpacks, folders or binders, books, etc. Organization is the key to a successful and stress free school year!
- Practice skills at home! Students should read for a minimum of 30 minutes each night. This is a great habit to start at bedtime.
- RTI- If your child is in RTI, it is extremely important that they return folders and practice every day when these things are sent home. In RTI, we are working on skills that the kiddos need to improve in, so no practice means no progress in RTI.
- Look at your child's classwork each day and discuss what they are working on. When parents are interested, the children are motivated and understand the importance of doing our best at school.
- Communicate with your child's teacher. Ask questions and stay informed about what is going on in your child's classroom. Check Parent Square, Dojo, Facebook, and the Woodard Website and you will know all of the happenings at our school.
AT Woodard, we love our students and want them to learn and grow as much as possible and to feel confident and strong in their learning. Working together, we can make a huge difference in the progress of our students!
PAW POWER!
A Message from Mr. K- ELL Specialist
Hello,
Woodard’s ESL caseload is holding steady at 27 students; this is a historically high number of ESL students at Woodard Elementary.
Here’s how it breaks down:
- We have six (6) Kinders
- We Have four 1st graders and one pending a review to be added (5)
- We have Three 2nd graders (2 Beginners)
- We have two 3rd graders (1 Beginner)
- We have one 4th grader
- We have three students that parents have waived support and chosen class immersion
- We have eight T1-2 students who have passed their annual tests and are monitored for growth
Woodard Elementary School has high expectations of all their ESL students, and daily growth is monitored.
To assure students that they will master all expected grade level growth levels, plus be able to pass their annual ELPA21 test.
Students will take four (4) 30-60 minutes computer tests in February-March of 2025 in Speaking, Reading, Writing and Comprehension
Of grade level texts in English.
Mr. K. and Woodard’s classroom teachers are looking forward to seeing ALL parents at Parent Teacher Conferences on October 1
To help parents celebrate growth and learn how they can support their children by making sure each student completes assigned homework
And practice skills that are still emerging.
ESL parents communicate daily and weekly with Mr. K. on DoJo to celebrate even small daily growth.

The Wonderful World of Math Strategies
Our fabulous teachers have made some video clips of important things the kiddos are learning in math. Sometimes these are unfamiliar concepts to parents. We hope this helps to understand expectations and concepts in each grade level.
Leadership Team Meeting

What does it mean to be a Title I School?
Woodard is identified as a Title I School as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is designed to support state and local school improvement efforts tied to the challenging state academic standards. The goal of Title I is to improve teaching and learning for all students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support Family Engagement. All Title I Schools must jointly develop with stakeholders a written parent and family engagement policy.

Cafeteria News!
🍽️ Lunch Visitors and Extra Snack Money
Reminders-
**** Please be sure your child knows their lunch number. It will really help our line to run smoothly if the kiddos have it memorized and can type it in independently.
🚫 No outside food (Chick-fil-a, McDonald's, Subway, etc.).
⏳ Please limit lunch visits to once a week per child. With over 600 students, we don’t have space for multiple guests every day.
👪 You must eat with your child only. If you bring younger children, they must remain with you at all times.
🪑 Visitors must sit on the cafeteria stage or in the little room.
👋 After lunch, please say your goodbyes in the cafeteria as students line up.
If your child is buying an extra snack at lunch, please send money for the week in an envelope. The envelope should be given to the teacher in the morning. Due to the volume of lunches being served, money can't be taken at the register.
