A Message from the Principal
July 5, 2023
Hello River Hill HS!
Greetings, Parents, and Students of River Hill High School,
As I begin my tenure as principal of River Hill High School, I want to take a few moments to introduce myself and invite you to a “Meet and Greet” session I have scheduled towards the end of the month.
First and foremost, please know that Ms. Lidgard and I have worked closely to make this a smooth transition. In addition to a new principal, River Hill is gaining Mr. Rick Robb and Ms. Allison Volinsky as assistant principals to join Mr. Penn and Mr. Creighton on the administrative team. Mr. Robb joins us from Patuxent Valley Middle School, where he served as its principal, and Ms. Volinsky accompanies me from Atholton High School, where she served as assistant principal. I am excited about the administrative team assembled for our school.
I am looking forward to the new school year and have many plans to make it successful. The staff and I look forward to working with you to achieve our shared goal of helping your child achieve his/her potential in a respectful, motivating, and challenging setting. The professional staff, the committed PTSA, and the involved parents have a right to be proud of their efforts and the efforts of RHHS students. It is this winning combination that creates a successful school climate. I truly feel honored to join this community. To those families redistricted from Atholton to River Hill, I am thrilled to be united with you again!
On July 25, 2023, @ 6:30 pm, I am hosting a parent “Meet and Greet.” This will allow you to get to know me and the new members of the administrative team. It will also serve as an opportunity for you to share your thoughts regarding RHHS. I have already reached out to the new PTSA president, Ms. Ulrike Thompson, and looking forward to a great relationship with the PTSA and the Boosters of River Hill.
I want you to know that I am here to support the learning and success of every student. Establishing relationships is the hallmark of a successful school. I strongly believe in getting to know my students and their parents. I pledge to work collaboratively with the members of the RHHS staff to ensure that each student experiences personal and academic success and well-being.
Lastly, as the new principal, I want to know what values you hold dear as a school community. More importantly, how do you define the culture of River Hill High School? Please take a moment to complete this quick survey regarding your impressions of River Hill High School.
If you have questions, please contact me or the administrative team at 410-313-7120. I hope you had a great 4th of July. I look forward to meeting you on July 25th.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Motley
