Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Snapshot News:
District Cross Country Championship
Year 7 and 8 competed this week against other secondary schools. Pictured is Lexi in Year 8 who finished 2nd and will now represent the district in the county championships.
Buzzed Drama Tour
Our Year 9 and 10 students watched thought-provoking drama, ‘The Buzzed’ that highlights mental health issues and the dangers of drugs.
Talk out Loud Initiative
The play was performed by students from Northampton College, who, are touring it around local schools. It is being performed as part of ‘Talk Out Loud’ initiative.

- Mr Rogers has nominated the Year 7 and 8 students who took part in the District Cross Country Championship this week.
- Mrs Morgan has nominated her Year 7 Art students for their fantastic designs for the Futuristic homework, in particular Keeley, Emma P, Courtney, Kia and Milena.
- Mr Jackson has nominated Year 8 student Daria for her excellent effort in Maths.
- Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 13 students Ross and Karim for fantastic results in their Physics mock exam. Also nominated is Year 10 student Adam for great efforts in revision.
- Mr Bidwell has nominated Year 7 student Harley for excellent determination in Geography.
- Mrs Arnold has nominated Year 13 student Reece and Year 12 students Stefi and Brennon for their support at the 6th form open evening – they were excellent ambassadors.
- Mrs Ferns has nominated Year 10 student Robbie for taking on additional Maths work to improve his grades.
- Miss Williams has nominated Year 10 PE students Ewan, Damian, Liam and Macauley for an excellent badminton lesson! Really taking on feedback and knowledge of tactics to improve game play. Really impressive to watch.
- Miss Fenner has nominated the Year 8 students studying Lord of the Flies for their fantastic work, and Year 9 for their excellent Jack the Ripper investigations.
Celebration of Student Work
iPad Initiative
7TE and 8TE are continuing their month-long study to see how iPads can be used most effectively in schools.
Year 9 - Design and Technology
Year 9 students have created boxes from different varieties of wood, each hinged with a finger joint in Design and Technology.
Year 11 - GCSE Art
This amazing piece was created by Year 11 student Abbie.
Attendance Matters
Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.
Whole School Attendance
Whole school attendance this week is 95.6%, just 1% below our target.
Best Tutor Group
Best tutor groups are 7TE and 10T with 99.2%, well done to Mr Lee, Miss Fenner and the students of 7TE and 10T.
House Winner
House winners this week are T house with 96.31%, well done Telford and Tacke.
