MST Weekly Update
November 8, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
Today is the start of the second quarter of the school year. Report cards for quarter 1 will be published soon in Aspen. If you do not have access to Aspen yet, CLICK HERE to sign up. Below you will see an explanation of how to interpret the first report card of the year. Competency grading can be confusing. The comments will be key to determining the progress of your child in their MST High School classes.
A reminder that Monday November 11th is Veteran's Day, and all school are closed that day. Thank you to all who have served or are currently serving in the military.
Understanding the MST Report Card
When report cards are issued soon, most of the grades will be similar because at this point in the year, the level of competency is 1 for most, if not all of the classes. In a competency system, the total progress is reported for each marking period. Think of a 1 as being 1/3 of the way to a completing a competency, a 2 is about 2/3 of the way, and a 3 means that student has met competency. When all competencies are a 3 or better for a course, credit is earned. If a student goes above and beyond, a 4 may be earned in a competency. In reality, the MST-HS report card is really a progress report of where your child is at that moment in time.
The first report card is the most confusing as the 1 could mean they have not done any work, they have done little work, or they may be on track to earn credit. That is why the teacher comments are so important. The comments will tell you how your child is performing at this time in each class.
PLEASE NOTE that if your child is in a CTE class, that class will have a traditional letter grade.
Please see the attachment below for a further explanation.
FAFSA Time

A Message from the School Nurse:
Letters were sent home last week with freshmen students that still have not turned in a physical exam to the nurse. The Manchester School District requires that all students entering 9 the grade provide documentation of a current physical examination by a licensed health care provider which has been completed within the last year. If you have not turned in the required physical examination for high school, please turn it in as soon as possible. If your child has an appointment scheduled for a physical exam, please send it after the appointment. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school nurse directly at 603-624-6490 ext 2131.
Over the Counter Medication forms were sent home with all students last week. Parents/Guardians must give written permission for a child to receive short-term OTC medication at school. Please complete the form and send it back to school with your child. Medication will not be administered unless a parent/guardian signed and completed form is on file.
