Battle of the Books
More than 100 students are readers in Battle of the Books, and have each read at least 8 books (for 3rd grade) or 15 books (for 4th/5th grade) since the beginning of the school year. Once a month, the students gather to discuss the books in a fun, lively and engaging format.
Washington holds its 4th and 5th grades Battle of the Books competition day on Wednesday, March 13. Various parent volunteer and donations spots are open. Please check our Sign-up Genius to be part of this event.
Battle of the Books for 3rd grade is on Wednesday, March 20. Sign-up to volunteer to help and for snacks here.
Multi-Cultural Night this Friday
Come by the Washington campus this Friday night, 5:00 - 7:00 PM, to enjoy the cultural booths by our students’ families and friends. There will be food (tastings only), music, and performances! Admission is free. MCN contact: waelmcn2022@gmail.com
Volunteers: Dorian Spring Pictures
Some students opt to take a “studio” photo with Dorian on Friday, March 22. We are looking for a few parent volunteers to help in the studio during the morning hours before noon. Volunteers earn a complimentary photo package. Check out the sign-up for an open time slot.
Explorers MADE Marketplace
The Spring marketplace will be held on Wednesday, March 27th from 1:35 - 3:00 PM.
There are only 2 spots left for students who can bring their own table and sell arts & crafts. Food & beverage spots are unavailable. Register here to sign up. Items for sale must be homemade by the student and priced under $5. Marketplace questions? Contact: Katy Parkli: made@explorerspta.org
Volunteers: STEAM Night (April 19)
The STEAM Night committee is looking for key volunteers to make the program run smoothly. The committee has booked many exhibitors for a fun expo-style fair to highlight Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math!
Check out these open positions and contact web@explorerspta.org to learn more.

Volunteers: Earth Day Fair (April 26) - Craft Table
In past years, crafts have included planting tomato seeds in cardboard egg cartons, making flower seed bombs, and reusing cardboard toilet paper rolls to make bird feeders. Any of these crafts can be repeated, or we can try something new. We can also ask our school community to donate items, such as egg cartons, as needed. If you (and/or a group) can think of an environmentally-minded craft and demonstrate/lead the craft at the Fair, please contact web@explorerspta.org
