Early Student Pickup
Please be mindful that the end of the day can be very busy and in order for us to ensure that your child is ready to be picked up when you arrive, picking up your child early, before 2:30 helps manage this process and is greatly appreciated.
Cold Weather
With the cold weather upon us, please make sure that your students are wearing the appropriate clothing for going outside (coat, hat, gloves, etc.). Please see the weather guide attached from the ISBE website that we use to determine whether or not we will be outside for recess.
Front Parking Lot Reminder
MJHS Drop/Pick Up Line
Please see the information below regarding student drop off/pick up:
- Please do not park in the back parking lot when picking up your student in the afternoon. We need all cars to stay in the pick up line.
- Please do not park in the front parking lot in the morning when dropping off students so we have space for staff parking. Car riders are picked up and dropped off behind the school only.
- Please do not pull in and out of resident's driveways when picking up or dropping off.
- Front entrance is reserved for staff and school buses, and is very dangerous for students to be dropped off in this area. Please drive around the back of the building.
- Cars must enter from River Oak Street and make a RIGHT TURN ONLY into the lot, and exit by making a RIGHT TURN ONLY, also.
- Safety directors are out to guide you. Please do not drop your student off in the street as this blocks traffic trying to enter the drop off area correctly.
- Here is the Link to Drop Off/Pick Up Map
Thank you so much for helping our morning and afternoons run smoothly and safely!

2025-26 Home & School Executive Board Openings
Thank you to our current Home & School Executive Board. We are in the recruitment process for next year's board positions of Treasurer and Vice President. More details about the specific will be in next week's news. If you are interested in these positions, please connect with a current board member to share your interest and find out more about the roles.
Vice President Role:
The Vice President of Home and School is a great role! One of the main VP responsibilities is facilitating social media posts and helping the MJHS community stay up to date with school happenings and events. Occasionally, if the H&S President is unable to attend the monthly district H&S meeting, you would be asked to attend in their place. The VP is required to attend all MJHS Home & School executive meetings that are held once a month as well as the five general meetings which are held throughout the school year. There are a few other small administrative duties for the VP role. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to our current Vice President, Susan Shamoun at madisonhandsvp@gmail.com

Community Give Back Day!
We are excited to be a part of the first District 203 Community Give Back Day taking place at all five middle schools on Monday, February 3rd. We've partnered with Inside Out Club to bring your students a rewarding, feel-good experience that brings joy to those in need - seniors, troops, police/fire, the sick, or children visiting local food pantries. Your student will be participating at school in a hands-on project benefiting a local nonprofit. Be sure to ask them about it so they can share with you about the organization and the positive impact they made on others! Inside Out Club also has opportunities to get involved through summer camps just for middle schoolers and more. Registration is open now! Check out www.insideoutclub.org/bd4g.

24-25 MJHS Intramurals
- This is just a reminder that our intramural program is a great way for ALL students to be an active member of our school community!
- All intramurals are listed on our webpage, and schedules/times/requirements are listed on each individual intramural's schedule.
- When our schedules become active, they are available by clicking the (click here) link.
- All students need to do is attend the intramural when scheduled and they will receive a schedule and fee sheet. The, one-time, intramural fee is 26.00 and good for the entire school year.
- Students do not have to attend every session, instead attend when it fits in their schedule. When more than one intramural is occurring at the same time, students can rotate days so they can participate in both.
