Welcome back to UEN Homeroom!

Join Dani and Matt on this episode of UEN Homeroom as they delve into three different types of technology: eSports, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). They discuss how these technologies are being incorporated into schools as tools to enhance the classroom experience and positively impact students' lifelong success.

This six-week course will demonstrate Utah school leaders' competencies to create a school atmosphere that values the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities of living, learning, and working in an interconnected digital world. Focusing on some of the best digital citizenship and information literacy resources out today, this course will deepen participants’ understanding of how these two areas overlap in society and the curriculum already being taught in their buildings. Leaders participating in this course will get the opportunity to explore resources, skills, and strategies that can help teachers create positive online experiences for students that foster responsible contribution, empathetic engagement, and critical consumption. Finally, participants will learn about and explore digital tools & content curated by the state to best support their digital citizenship and information literacy standards in their respective districts.

This course, along with many others, will run in our Spring B semester starting March 7th.

Mathematics in Utah challenges each student to develop and extend mathematical proficiency and literacy through:

• The Utah Core Standards for Mathematics
• High quality, asset-based mathematics educational experiences, and
• Assessment systems that meet the learning needs of each student and provide educators with data to inform instruction and intervention.

Using the appropriate grade-level Utah Core Standards as a foundation, the secondary mathematics learning experiences provide an emphasis on depth over breadth with a focus on the Major Works for mathematics and the support of the Utah Mathematics Core Guides.

Stanford University's CRAFT AI Literacy Resources are a great series of lessons that explore with students the crucial information surrounding AI in our lives. The lessons are open source and could be used across grade bands.

If you are starting to ask questions about how to incorporate discussions about AI into your classroom or looking for some great ways to help students build their capacities for artificial intelligence, this is a great series of ever-growing resources.
