Mr. Anderson - Physical Education Teacher
Hello, my name is Ian Anderson and I teach Physical Education at the high school. I am originally from La Crescent, MN, and came to G-E-T 4 years ago after teaching for 9 years just outside the Twin Cities. I attended UW-La Crosse for my undergraduate degree and completed my Master's in Education - Teaching and Learning at St. Mary's University in Minneapolis. The classes that I teach include 9th Grade PE, 10th-12th Grade PE, Intro & Advanced Weight Training, and Team Sports & Games. Outside of school, I love to be active, play golf, and spend time with my dogs. I am also the G-E-T Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach. Go Red Hawks!
Mr. Anderson - English Teacher
My name is Niels Anderson, English teacher for 18 years, the past 5 here at G-E-T. I teach primarily Sophomore English, Oral Communications, and AP Literature and Composition. As far as other activities that I am involved in here at school, I am on the Behavioral Support Team (BST), the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Team (PBIS), Building Leadership Team (BLT), head of National Honor Society, and in charge of the advisory monthly celebrations. During the year, you can see me as well behind the clock at all of our home football and basketball games.I grew up in Decorah, IA and was an avid runner (many pounds and a torn ACL ago). I have coached track and field and cross country for 25 years as well. Along with coaching and teaching, I have been married for 26 years and am currently experiencing empty nest-hood for the first time. Some interesting facts about me include that I have climbed 30 mountains over 14,000 ft and hoping to get some more in soon enough and, believe it or not, other than communion at church, I have never had a drop of alcohol.
Mr. Baures - Science Teacher
Hello, my name is Marc Baures. I teach Biology at the high school as well as coding, robotics, and Microbits at the middle school. I went to college at UW-Stevens Point where I majored in Biology and Water Resources (Aquatic Toxicology), and earned a minor in chemistry. I worked in the private industry for over 20 years until 2023 when I began teaching here at G-E-T. I am the assistant coach on the varsity volleyball team and co-advise G-E-T’s HOSA club which is a health occupations organization that allows high school students to explore a range of health related careers. I am married and have four children and two golden retrievers.
Ms. Bentz - High School Interventionist
Hi! I am Katie Bentz and I am the high school interventionist, and I also travel to the middle school four days a week to work with students there. I grew up in Milton, WI, earned my bachelor's degree from UW-La Crosse in English/Secondary Education, then went on to earn my master's degree from NOVA Southeastern University in Curriculum and Instruction. Most recently, I earned a teaching certificate in Alternative Education through Concordia University. Interventionist is a new role for me in the district, and I thoroughly enjoy working with all of my students in smaller class sizes with focused intent. Prior to my position as interventionist, I taught English at the high school level for 16 years, the last three at G-E-T. Outside of school I am busy planning my wedding to take place in November, working in the service industry, and singing with my band, Blondie Blue. My fiancé and I are also working on house plans for our upcoming build, and can't wait to continue our lives in the area with our dog, Ginley. I love the G-E-T community and look forward to many years to come in this district!
Mrs. Brandau - Math Teacher
Hello, my name is Kara Brandau and I am one of the math teachers at the high school. I am originally from the Wilton Wisconsin area and grew up on a small dairy farm. I have 4 siblings, 14 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews. I went to Viterbo University in La Crosse where I had a successful basketball career. I received my Master's degree from Viterbo as well. I have been at G-E-T since January of 2003 and have really enjoyed my time here. I have done some coaching, basketball and softball, in the past along with teaching Algebra, Geometry, and Tech Math. My husband and I recently moved to the Galesville area with our 6-year-old daughter and we love the area.
Ms. Burritt - Family & Consumer Sciences
Hi! My name is Kristine Burritt and I am the Family Consumer Science Teacher and FCCLA Advisor at the middle school and high school. This is my 6th year teaching at G-E-T and my 9th year teaching overall. I grew up in the La Crosse area and attended UW-Stout for my undergraduate degree in Family Consumer Science Education. I took my first teaching job in Manitowoc, WI where I spent three years enjoying beautiful Lake Michigan and being in close driving distance to Lambeau and American Family Field. In my spare time I love to cook, read, spend time with my family, go to sporting events (go Badgers!) and concerts, hike, and curl.
Mrs. Casey - Alternative Education
Hello, my name is Chas Casey. This is my 24th year teaching. I started my career teaching elementary for 22 years in Holmen and then joined the G-E-T School District last year. This is my second year teaching alternative education at the Coulee Region High School. My husband is a middle school teacher in Holman and our daughter attends Holmen High School. My husband and I both grew up in Blair, and we did not migrate far and live in Trempealeau on a small farm with two pet goats. We spend most of our time in the gym supporting our daughter's volleyball and basketball teams. The transition to the G-E-T School District has been wonderful and I am enjoying my career change. Mr. Combs - Band Director
Hello, my name is Damian Combs and this is my first year as Director of Bands here at G-E-T High School. This is my 2nd year teaching, but I have many years of experience in the education field, with previous work as a Paraprofessional at the Elementary and Middle School levels. I taught grades 5-12 my first year last year at Royall High and Middle School in Elroy, WI. I reside in La Crosse, and enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I also enjoy classic car shows, anything outdoors, video games, and movies.
Mrs. Dahl - Student Services Secretary
Hello, my name is Michelle Dahl. I am the student services secretary at the high school. I earned my degree in Human Resources from Western and worked at Gundersen for many years. After having kids I became a stay-at-home mom and then started subbing at Trempealeau Elementary. I eventually worked full-time at Trempealeau Elementary for 7 years as a para and 3 years as the building secretary at Galesville Elementary. I just started my 11th year in the district and I am loving my time here at the high school. I live in Trempealeau with my husband, our two kids, and our two dogs. We also have two adult children.
Ms. Dutelle - Choir Director
Greetings! I am entering my first year teaching in the G-E-T school district, although I am no stranger to the building. My relationship with the high school began back in 2019 when I student taught and directed Out of the Blue (a cappella), and now I'm here full time. After graduating from UW-La Crosse in 2019 with Bachelor's Degrees in Choral Music Education (6-12 choir) and General Music (K-5), I relocated to a small town in Maine and worked at a school called Fryeburg Academy. After 4 years of teaching choir, band, theater, and piano near the White Mountain National Forest, I decided it was time to return to the place where it all began. I'm excited to be living closer to my siblings who live in Minneapolis and Madison, along with my parents who are still in my hometown of Waukesha, WI. My tuxedo cat Dorian and I reside in Onalaska. Some of my favorite things include being in water, reading fantasy books, spending time with friends, and eating Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
Mrs. (Swarm) Frost - School Psychologist
Hello, my name is Brianna Frost and I am the school psychologist at the G-E-T middle and high school! I am originally from Bettendorf, Iowa, and moved to the La Crosse area for graduate school about four years ago. I earned my bachelors degree at the University of Northern Iowa, and I graduated with my Education Specialist degree through UW-La Crosse. As a school psychologist, I often collaborate with students, teachers, counselors, and parents to ensure all students succeed in school. It's the start of my second year here at G-E-T and I am so grateful to be back and working in this community!
Mrs. Gannon-Thompson - Social Studies Teacher
Greetings! I am Angeline Gannon Thompson and I am one of the high school Social Studies teachers who focuses in U.S. History and American Government. I was recently married in August. I am originally from Bismarck, ND and graduated from Valley City State University in December of 2022 (the only Vikings I'll cheer for). I was brought to this beautiful area by my husband, who grew up here. This is my second year teaching full time at G-E-T, however I did my student teaching here in the fall of 2022. I am also the assistant Cross County Coach, this is my third fall with the program. The students, staff and families in this district are some of the greatest and I love that I am able to teach here and be a part of this G-E-T community. Go Red Hawks!
Mr. Gholson - Special Education Teacher
Hello, my name is Wayne Gholson and I joined the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District in 2009 as a teacher at Coulee Region High School. I taught at the alternative school until taking a special education job at the traditional high school in 2013. Currently, I continue to enjoy serving the district by splitting my day between the traditional and alternative high school.
Mrs. Holder - Special Education Teacher
Hello! I am Jessica Holder and I am a special education teacher for grades 9-12, focusing on all needs. This is my 9th year at G-E-T; before that I was teaching at the middle and high school in Ellsworth, WI for four years. I earned by Bachelor's of Education in Art from Viterbo University and then got my Special Education teaching license from St. Mary's. I also hold a Reading 316 license, and have a Master's in Education and Principal license, both from Viterbo University. I grew up in Arcadia, WI, and currently live there with my husband and three children, who are ages 6, 4, and 1. In my free time, I am usually with my family doing activities outdoors, such as going to the park. I also love to read, cook, garden, and enjoy traveling.
Mr. Hovell - Physical Education Teacher
Hello, my name is Scott Hovell and I am one of our physical education teachers at the middle and high school. I grew up in Galesville and graduated from G-E-T. I graduated from UW-La Crosse in 2018 and taught at Blair-Taylor Elementary for three years before coming home to G-E-T. I have coached many sports during my time here, but my true passion is baseball. I have been our head baseball coach since 2018. The classes that I teach at the high school are 10-12 PE, Team Sports, and Recreational Activities. In my free time I love to play baseball, golf, hunt, and spend time with my family and friends.
Mrs. Hovell - Math Teacher
Hello, my name is Molly Hovell and I am one of the math teachers here at G-E-T and I teach Algebra and Advanced Algebra. In addition to teaching I am also the Student Senate Advisor at the high school. I grew up in Medford, Wisconsin and then went to college at UW-River Falls. I have been teaching for 20 years but this is my 10th year of teaching at G-E-T. I live in Trempealeau with my husband and our 2 sons. I enjoy spending time with my family, curling, kayaking, watching my children play sports, reading and hanging out with my dog Ranger.
Mr. Hurd - Social Studies Teacher
Howdy folks! I'm Louis Hurd, a member of the G-E-T high school studies department. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree at UW-Stevens Point, majoring in Broadfield Social Studies and minoring in History and Political Science. This past December I also earned my Master's of Science degree in Educational Leadership Sports Management from Winona State University. I have been at G-E-T for ten years now, but I got my start in teaching at Royal High School in Elroy, WI, teaching there for two years. I've worn a lot of hats in this building over the last decade, coaching many sports and being involved in our student leadership programs. I'm now focusing on being a great husband and dad to my wife and three girls. My wife coaches woman's basketball at Winona State University, and the coaching/teaching/parenting lifestyle pretty much dominates our lives! I'm a sports fan, an avid outdoorsman/traveler, and a movie nerd. I also spend quite a bit of time mastering techniques in the kitchen.
Mr. Johnson - Science Teacher
Hello! I'm Jon Jonson and I've been teaching science in the G-E-T school district for 27 years. Throughout the years, I've taught mainly Chemistry, Field Science, and Physics. I enjoy all sports, hunting and fishing, exercising, playing guitar, etc. My 2 sons graduated from G-E-T and my wife, Mrs. Johnson, is the high school art teacher! We have 3 dogs (2 are trackers)!
Mrs. Johnson - Art & Design Teacher
Hello! My name is Jennifer Johnson and I am the Art & Design teacher and this is my 28th year teaching at G-E-T. I taught in all three elementary schools, the middle school, and the high school. I am currently teaching all of the art and design classes at the high school. I grew up on a farm outside of Whitewater, WI. In 1993 I graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Art History. I worked as a graphic artist for a few years, but I missed working with kids. I coached gymnastics while I went to college and I missed helping others so I went back to school and finished my teaching license. I married Mr. Johnson in 1997 and started teaching at G-E-T a couple of weeks later. We have 2 boys that graduated from G-E-T high school. I also have 3 dogs and a cat. I enjoy spending time outside, reading, drawing, painting, and listening to music.
Mrs. Joten - English Teacher
Hi! My name is Kimberly Joten, and I am new to G-E-T this school year. Currently, I teach English 10, English 11, and Applied Communications. I grew up on a small farm outside of Blair, Wisconsin. My husband and I live in Taylor, Wisconsin. Some of my hobbies and interests include reading, writing, playing games, doing puzzles, spending time with family and friends, watching movies/TV, and learning new things. I earned my bachelor's degree (in comprehensive secondary English education) from UW-Eau Claire. Also, I hold a master's degree in education - professional development from UW-La Crosse and a master's degree in education - professional studies (with an emphasis in information, technology, and libraries) from UW-Whitewater. I am certified to teach English in grades 6-12, and I am a certified K-12 library media specialist. I come to G-E-T with 24 years of experience in education, having taught high school English for sixteen years in the Blair-Taylor School District, and having served as their district library media specialist for eight.
Ms. Kish - Physical Education & Health Teacher
Hello, I am Ms. Kish and this is my 3rd year teaching at G-E-T, I teach at the middle and high school. I taught for 6 years before coming to G-E-T and now live in Galesville. I grew up in La Crosse and went to Luther High School and then attended UW-Eau Claire where I graduated with my PE, Health, and Adapted PE Teaching license. I also coach the JV volleyball team at G-E-T as well as attend as many other sporting events that I can throughout the year. During my time away from school my favorite things to do are hangout with my dog Penny, go golfing, play volleyball, watch baseball, or go to my family cabin in Hayward.
Mrs. Kube - Business & Marketing Teacher
Hi! My name is Niki Kube and I am the sole Business & Marketing teacher in the district. I spend most of my day at the high school, but I also go to the middle school for one exploration course. I am originally from the rival town of Arcadia, but my husband and I have now planted our roots in Trempealeau with our 2-year-old son, Brooks. This is my 6th year at G-E-T and 10th year in education. I graduated from Winona State with my undergraduate degree in Business Education and I received my Masters in Business Administration from Western Governors University. When I am not teaching I enjoy boating, shopping, and attending sporting events and concerts.
Mrs. Lake - School Social Worker
Hello G-E-T community! My name is Madalyn Lake and I am the school social worker new to the district this fall. My role is to help reduce barriers, provide and connect families with resources, and support the overall well being of students, staff, and families. My husband and I are originally from the Dubuque, IA area and most recently moved from the Chicago area. I received undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science & Psychology from St. Ambrose University and completed my Masters in Social Work at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA. We have a 15-month-old daughter, and an 8-year-old golden retriever and we love spending time together going on walks, hiking, and spending many winter hours in the basketball gym.
Mrs. McCutchen - College & Career Coordinator
Hi! My name is Amy McCutchen, and this is my fourth year at G-E-T. I earned my undergraduate degree at Winona State University and my Masters degrees at UW-La Crosse. I previously taught business for 14 year in Holmen making this my 18th year in education! At G-E-T High School, I spend my days helping students with all things Academic, Career, and College related! I'm also an advisor for the Red Hawk Flock. I live in Trempealeau with my husband and three daughters. In my free time I love to spend time outdoors, bike, cheer on my children in their various activities, and hang out with my family.
Mrs. McHugh-Scharping - Special Education Teacher
Hello! I am Kathy McHugh-Scharping and I am one of the Special Education teachers at the high school. I grew up on a farm outside of Eastman, WI, and graduated from Seneca High School. I earned my bachelor's degree in special education in 1992 from Winona State University and spent 10 years teaching for the Osceola High School. After earning my master's degree in education in 2001 from St. Mary's University, we decided to move closer to family which brought me to the G-E-T High School. I have been a member of the G-E-T High School staff for the past 23 years, specializing in learning differences. I have also coached Forensics (in both districts) for a total of 25 years. I am married and have three children and one granddaughter. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, reading, being outdoors, and traveling.
Mr. Mendez - Social Studies Teacher
Hello, I am Ryan Mendez and I joined the high school in 2014, but before that I took my first teaching job at the Lincoln Hills Boys Prison in Irma, Wisconsin. My experience teaching young inmates has significantly shaped my own teaching methods. I grew up just down the road in Black River Falls, earned my bachelors from UW-La Crosse and then in 2003 obtained my masters degree in American History from Gettysburg College. I have taught US History, US Government, and AP US History for most of my time, but as of last year, I have switched to psychology, sociology, and now AP psychology, too. I have been co-head coach of the boys track and field team since 2015, and I added the girls team a year later. Additionally, I was assistant coach of the cross country team from 2014 to 2019.
Mr. Nelson - Agriculture Education MS/HS
Hello, I am John Nelson and I serve the G-E-T district as the middle and high school agriculture teacher. I offer courses in the Plant Science, Animal Science, Wildlife & Natural Resources and Welding career fields. I have a vested interest in this district as I grew up in Galesville and graduated from G-E-T in 2008. I taught Agriculture Education in Colfax after graduating from UW-River Falls and continued my way home taking a position at C-FC as their tech ed teacher. I enjoy time with my family, being outdoors and time on our family farm.
Mr. Oliver - High School Principal
Hello, my name is Jamie Oliver and I am starting my second year as the high school principal. I started my educational career as a physical education teacher, but have been an administrator for the past 10 years. In the past I have coached wrestling, football, track and field, tennis, and basketball. My wife and I love to travel and experience new things and spend time as family. I was born and raised in Tomah, WI and love all of the Wisconsin Badger teams, but I am also a huge Chicago Bears fan.
Mr. Ottum - Technology and Engineering Teacher
Hi! I am in my 11th year teaching at G-E-T. I have been teaching for a total of 18 years. I taught for 4 years in North Crawford and 3 years in Tomah. In all of my positions I have taught at the middle and high school levels. I primarily teach one class of middle school, Fundamentals of Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing, Construction and Basic Home and Auto. I grew up in a small dairy farm community outside of Kendall, WI. I still truly enjoy going out to the farm to help out with beef cattle and farming duties. My wife is a kindergarten teacher and I have two kids. My daughter is in 6th grade and my son is in 2nd grade. I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, horseback riding and sports.
Ms. Parker - Speech & Language Pathologist
Hello, everyone! I'm Sierra Parker and I'm the speech-language pathologist at the G-E-T High School. I grew up in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and eventually found my way to the Driftless Area, drawn by its (relatively) milder climate. I'm passionate about the outdoors and take a long backpacking trip each summer. When I'm not hiking, I love paddling, reading, and watching movies with my partner and our dog. At G-E-T High School, I work with students on speech production, vocabulary, conversation sills, fluency (stuttering), and more. I work with some amazing students and am continually inspired by their kindness, resilience and courage!
Mrs. Petersen - English Teacher
Hello, I'm Michelle Petersen, a high school English teacher with over 29 years of experience in education. I currently teach English 9, Creative Writing, and College Prep. Originally from Ames, Iowa, I earned my bachelor's degree in English Education from the University of Northern Iowa and my master's degree in Secondary Education from Viterbo University. I spent six years teaching in Iowa before moving to G-E-T, where I've been for the past 23 years. Over the years, I advised both the yearbook and the National Honor Society. In my free time, I enjoy reading, camping, kayaking as well as attending sporting events and concerts. I'm married and have two adult children and a yellow lab named Greta. A fun fact: I'm excited to become a grandma in December!
Mrs. Ruud - Special Education Teacher
Hello, my name is Nichole Ruud and I am a High School Special Education: Intellectual Disabilities teacher. I am originally from West Salem, WI. I now reside in Trempealeau with my husband Sam and two children. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire in Special Education: Cognitive Disabilities and Special Education: Learning Disabilities. I then obtained my masters degree at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in The Masters of Education: Professional Development program. Next I returned to school to receive my Special Education: Cross Categorial certification as well as a certification in autism at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. To later go on and become a National Board Certified Teacher. I have been teaching for 22 years, 13 of those years at G-E-T. I work with the best students and families at G-E-T, and look forward to many more years here in the district!
Mr. Ruud - Director of Instruction
Greetings! I'm Sam Ruud, and I'm excited to begin this year as the Director of Instruction. My office is located at the High School, near the Performing Arts Center. Prior to this role, I spent eight years as the principal of Trempealeau Elementary. Before joining G-E-T, I was a high school music teacher and later a middle school principal in the School District of Arcadia. I grew up in West Salem and graduated from West Salem High School. I earned my undergraduate degree from Drake University and completed my master's at UW-La Crosse. Additionally, I hold Administrative, Director of Instruction, and Reading Specialist licenses from Viterbo University. I live in Trempealeau with my family- my wife, Mrs. Ruud, who teachers special education at the high school, and our two children.
Mr. Schmidt - Activities Director & Dean of Students
Greetings from a senior member of the GET School District. I graduated from Whitehall High School a few years ago. This is my 33rd year in education, with 30 of those years here at GET. I worked at Ettrick Elementary for 19 years teaching 5th grade. I also taught 6th grade science at the middle school for 6 years. This is my 5th year as Dean of Students / Activities Director at the high school. Along this incredible journey at GET, my wife (who also teaches at Ettrick Elementary) and I have raised three children who all graduated from G-E-T. Our oldest will graduate medical school in May and will get married the following weekend! Our other daughter has gone into the family business and is teaching 7th grade science at the GET middle school. Our youngest will graduate December of 2025. He also is going into the family business of education. Things I enjoy doing are golfing, hunting, and coaching. You name it, I have coached it, in this wonderful district. We have two GoldenDoodles named Finley and Fergie!
Ms. Schorbahn - District Food Service Director
Hello, my name is Melody Schorbahn. I am the District Food Service Director. This is my 10th year with G-E-T. I graduated from Independence & also received an Administrative Assistant Information Processing degree from WWTC. I live in Ettrick and have 2 children plus my fur-baby Charlotte. When I’m not busy with my kids' activities, I enjoy kayaking, painting, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Secor - Science Teacher
Hello, my name is Collin Secor and I teach Science at the high school. Specifically, I teach Physical Science for every freshman, Chemistry for upperclassmen, and I will be teaching Earth Science next semester which is a brand new class for upperclassmen. I graduated from UW-La Crosse in December 2022 with a Biology Education major, Broad Field Science Education secondary major, and a minor in Earth Science Education. Aside from school, I grew up in Ashwaubenon, WI, about 2 miles from Lambeau and played football and baseball growing up. Nowadays, I like to disc golf, hike, bike, and do other activities outside with friends and my dog. This is my second year teaching at G-E-T and it has been a lot of fun. I am blessed to work with such great staff and students and be a part of such a great community!
Ms. Serum - School Counselor
Hello, G-E-T students and families! My name is Molly Serum and I am honored to be one of your School Counselors. I am originally from the small town of Gilmanton and grew up on a dairy farm. After graduating from high school, I went on to Winona State where I completed both my bachelors and masters degrees. In 2019, I completed my school counseling internship at G-E-T and am so glad to be back in the district! This is the start of my 6th year in education and I feel extremely fortunate to be able to do what I do. When I am not working, you can find me running, hanging out with my family and friends, and walking my dog, Cooper. Thank you for having me!
Mrs. Shaw - District Librarian
Hi! My name is Megan Shaw, and I am the District Librarian (certified L-12 Library Media Specialist). I am in charge of the library at the high school, but spend most of my time teaching library classes at the elementary schools. I grew up in California and Door County, and graduated from Luther College with a degree in Elementary Education. I spent 12 years as an Assistant. Youth Services Librarian for La Crosse County Library, and am starting my 8th year here at G-E-T. I also have a Master's in Education - professional studies (with an emphasis in information, technology, and libraries) from UW-Whitewater.
Mrs. Sherry - English Teacher
Hello, I'm Christine Sherry, and I am one of four of the English teachers are the high school. I grew up between Black River Falls and Melrose, WI. Fun fact: I graduated from Western Technical College with a degree in Interior Design and worked in that field for about a year when the Great Recession hit, so I kind of felt like I needed to change directions. I decided to go back to school for English Education, which teaching was always what I "wanted to do when I grew up". I graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. This is my 10th year teaching, and my 4th year here at G-E-T. My husband and I have a 3-year-old daughter and an 8-month-old son. We love spending time on the boat and we will eventually find time to golf again when our kids get bigger!
Mr. Sorenson - Spanish Teacher
Hola, me llamo Garet Sorenson. I a part of the Spanish department here at G-E-T high school. I primarily teach Spanish 1 and 2 as well as a Spanish Explorer class at the middle school. I earned my Undergraduate Degree at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse in Spanish Education with a minor in psychology. I have lived abroad in Spain at multiple points in my life and grew to love the language and culture. This is my 5th year in the district and I love my work. My wife and I live in La Crosse with our 1 son and our dog. I spend as much time with my family as possible and enjoy teaching my son to be bilingual. I have been grateful for all of the positive relationships I have formed with students over the years. Gracias!
Mrs. Speltz - High School Secretary
Greetings! My name is Misty Speltz and I am currently the high school secretary for the G-E-T School District. I grew up in northern Wisconsin on a lake, between Ashland and Superior, and probably spent 95% of my childhood outdoors. My family then relocated to this area and I graduated from Holmen High School and then earned my Bachelor's Degree from Viterbo University. My family currently lives in Trempealeau and we enjoy spending time together fishing, swimming, golfing, riding our bikes, going to the Zoo, and spending time with our dogs. I also enjoy reading, puzzles, hiking, and although my husband would not agree with me, one of my favorite places is Disney World. I am thankful for being part of the G-E-T family and my favorite part of the job is interacting with our wonderful students, parents, and staff. We are truly blessed to be part of such an incredible community.
Ms. Steiner - Multilingual Learner Teacher
Hi! My name is Kelley Steiner and this is my first year at G-E-T, and my sixth year teaching. I currently work with students 6th-12th grade to learn English as a Second Language at the middle and high school. I live in Buffalo City, WI with my husband, three dogs, and a bearded dragon. I like to hike, travel, read, spend time with family, be outdoors, and play/coach softball. I graduated from Winona State in 2019 with my dual bachelor's degree in English as a Second Language (K-12) and Elementary Education (K-6th), with a minor in Child Advocacy Studies. I continued my education at Concordia Saint Paul, where I graduated in 2023 with my masters in Education with a concentration in Literacy and a K-12 Reading Teacher Licensure. I am excited to continue my learning journey here at G-E-T and get to know those at the school and in the community!
Mrs. Stetzer - Science Teacher
Hi! I am Cindy Stetzer. I have been with the G-E-T School District for 20+ years! I previously taught in La Crosse. I grew up in Warrens, Wisconsin but currently I live with my husband on Brice Prairie in the Town of Onalaska. Before teaching, I worked as a scientist researching turtles on the Mississippi River for over four years. This experience allows me to bring a new perspective to the courses I teach at the high school. I am currently teaching Biology 105, as an adjunct, for UW-Oshkosh, AP Biology and Anatomy & Physiology. I also occasionally teach our required, regular biology class to sophomores. In addition, I am the advisor for Science Club and along with another teacher have started a G-E-T chapter of HOSA, a health occupations organization that allows high school students to explore all kinds of health related careers! We are super excited for this new opportunity and hoping to make it the best we can. When not teaching, you can find me in my gardens, camping, kayaking or exploring wildlife around the world with my husband.
Mr. Walker - Technology and Engineering Teacher
Hello! My name is Lance Walker and this is my 17th year teaching at G-E-T. I teach multiple levels of automotive repair, small engines and electricity, CNC machining, wood manufacturing, and pre-construction at the high school. Several of my courses are transcripted with WTC. I've also been one of the Skills USA advisors for 17 years. I grew up on a farm outside of Oxford, WI, near Wisconsin Dells. I graduated from UW-Stout with a degree in Technology Education K-12. I currently live on a farm in the country of Holmen/Mindoro where my wife and I raise our 3 children. All 3 of our children open-enroll to the G-E-T District. I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, farming, hunting, and being outdoors.
Ms. White - School Counselor
Hello, I am Anna White, and I am one of the counselors at the high school and new to G-E-T. I did my undergraduate degree at Winona State University and my graduate degree in School Counseling through UW-Superior. As a school counselor, I provide support to our students in their academics, career, and social/emotional needs. I believe it is important to provide support in all areas to assist our students in becoming productive and resilient students. I also work to collaborate with students, parents, and educators to create a positive and inclusive school environment. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to connecting with all of you!
