8th Grade Boyertown Community Project
From May 16th until May 30th, the eighth-grade students will be participating in an integrated activity called “The Boyertown Community Project” that utilizes the knowledge that they have acquired during their years at East. The students leave the comfort of their usual routine and regular classes for seven days. During this time, students attend workshops and seminars, working as part of a cooperative learning team to solve a problem placed before them. Each member of the team holds a different career position, enabling the team to develop a proposal for the assigned situation. This will replicate a real-life work experience for them to showcase their talents and abilities.
Part of this project is having to present as a team to a panel of adult judges on the morning of May 30. This is an incredible opportunity to see the outstanding ideas and collaboration that our students will cultivate. If you are interested in participating as a judge, please fill in the requested information on the following link: 2024 BCP judge
If you have an eighth-grade student that will be missing part of the project due to a pre-planned vacation, they are encouraged to speak to either Mr. Hofmanner or Mrs. Wernersbach about their situation. As this is a team-based activity, the more prepared the staff can be prior to the start, the more successful the students will be in their respective teams.
