DECA Visits Villanova University
On Wednesday, January 15, members of the CASH DECA club were invited as guests of Villanova Athletics to attend a women's basketball game at Villanova University. In addition, students visited the Bloomberg lab in Bartley Hall (home of the Villanova School of Business) and got to see Wall Street and stock transactions in real time on special computers designated for that purpose. Some coffee at "Holy Grounds" and a women's basketball team win against DePaul (66-55) were the other highlights of the day.
Faculty advisor Leslie Staab and chaperone Wendy Ford are both Villanova alumni, class of '92 β fun fact: Mrs. Ford was a member of the women's basketball team during her freshman year. She's pictured with her coach, Harry Perretta.
*2020 Coatesville Graduate Jhamir Brickus is a current member & starting Guard for the Villanova Men's Basketball team as a Graduate Student.
Science Fair at Scott Middle School
Scott held their 2025 Science Fair last week in their Library. Six scientists shared their presentations with the judging panel. All of the students did an amazing job and we are very proud of them. We would also want to thank Ms. Kaptur who worked as our Science Fair Coordinator.
Congratulations to our students who placed.
Elizabeth Abbott and Katie Scheivert placed 3rd with their project that tested juices for Vitamin C.
Mia Hand placed 2nd with her project that testes which carbon works best for water filtration.
Callen Boyer placed 1st with his project that tested whether the diameter of a marble affects the way it runs on a marble roller coaster.
Ms. Kaptur will continue to work with the students that will move onto to the county fair.

Spreading Kindness and Love in Ms. Cerra's Class at Reeceville
Mason in Ms. Cerra's class at Reeceville, brought in kindness bracelets for everyone from a charity organization known as Ellaβs Gifts. Their mission is to spread random acts of kindness and love, in honor of Ella Godbout. Ella was an Epilepsy Warrior, who spent 14 years of her life inspiring many, never letting her diagnosis set her back and always being her true authentic self.
Much like Ella, Mason is also making an impact on all those around him each day. He is genuine and kind and we love him! Thank you, Mason, for thinking of us. If you would like to learn more about Ellaβs Gifts, please visit https://www.ellasgifts.org/

We still have a lot of teachers that need adopting!
Welcome to Adopt a Coatesville Teacher! Teacher and support staff lists have been posted for the 2024-2025 school year. Please know we are continuously updating these lists following board meetings and staff changes. Please alert us if you notice any errors.
What does it mean to adopt? We ask that community members who participate recognize their teacher on a monthly basis. This does not need to be monetary recognition. Our teachers love receiving encouraging notes and letters of support.
Ready to adopt? Visit the site https://adoptacoatesvilleteacher.blogspot.com/ and click the apple labeled "sign up". It's first come first serve. We do our very best to reply to any adoption requests within 24 hours with an update.
What happens after I submit my interest form? If the teacher has already shared their wish list and interests, I'll pass that along to you. Sometimes we may not have that information so give us some time to track it down. We do our best to provide more details about each adopted teacher's preferences.
Support across the year? We will be in touch on a regular basis via email and on the Facebook page to encourage you to share ideas of recognition and to remind you of critical times of the year when encouragement goes a long way.
