Volume 3 ~ Issue 1 ~ Week of July 21, 2024
๐ Message from the Principal ๐
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year, Viking students and parents/guardians! ๐ค As we embark on this new academic journey together, I am filled with excitement and optimism for all the wonderful experiences and achievements that lie ahead. Our mission at Mar Vista Academy is to engage, educate, and empower each student to thrive in the global community. We are committed to providing a nurturing and challenging environment where every student can reach their full potential, while feeling safe, seen, heard, and valued.
To our students, we have high expectations for you as you start this new school year. For our 8th graders, you have a year of middle school under your belt and now have the opportunity to be role models for your peers and 7th graders. We look to you to demonstrate leadership, responsibility, and a positive attitude in all that you do. For our incoming 7th graders, I know middle school may seem like a big change, but you're here! Embrace the challenges and opportunities that come your way, and know that we are here to support you every step of the way.
At Mar Vista Academy, we believe that education is a collaborative effort. While our dedicated teachers and staff are here to provide the support and resources necessary for your childโs success, we also recognize the crucial role that parents play in this process. Your involvement and encouragement are invaluable to your child's academic and personal growth. Together, we can create a supportive network that fosters a love of learning and a sense of community. This includes staying informed by reading my weekly newsletters, messages from teachers on Jupiter, and monitoring your child's grades.
Throughout this school year, we will offer various opportunities for parents to engage with the school, from volunteer opportunities and parent-teacher interactions to special events and workshops. We encourage you to take an active role in your child's education and stay connected with us. Your participation helps to create a positive and enriching school experience for everyone.
Let us work together to make this year one of growth, achievement, and joy for all our students. With our combined efforts, I am confident that we will continue to make Mar Vista Academy a place where every student can excel and thrive. Here's to a fantastic 2024-2025 school year! ๐ค
Let's make it a great week, Vikings!! ๐
7th grade Parents/Guardians, come sip and see! โ
Class Schedules
Class Schedules will be visible to students and parents/guardians via Infinite Campus and Jupiter, starting Monday, July 22nd. MVA Administration will be sending out personalized schedules to each student on Tuesday afternoon, but students will also be getting a hard copy of their schedule in Advisory on the first day of school.
Please note: Class schedules are subject to change in the first 10 days of school due to balancing and contractual obligations. Please be patient as our counselors work diligently to make the least amount of impact to a student's schedule.
Dismissal Times for this week! ๐
A friendly reminder that our first day of school is Wednesday, July 24th. We have minimum days all week with 1:15pm dismissal. Please plan accordingly.
๐ค Week of Welcome - July 24-26th ๐ค
We will kick off the year with our special Week of Welcome, a three-day event designed to help students get acclimated to our campus, meet their teachers, and connect with their peers. During this time, students will participate in a variety of fun activities and events that not only foster a sense of community but also introduce them to important school expectations. At the end of the week, we finish off with a fun field day of games, tournaments, and activities. The focus on Friday is FUN, so leave those backpacks at home! We believe this engaging start will set a positive tone for the year ahead and help everyone feel more comfortable and excited about the learning journey we will embark on together!

Copies of this form will go home with your child on the first day of school. Please be sure to fill it out and have your child return it to their advisory teacher.

Save the Date: Open House 2024
Open House is a crucial opportunity for parents to engage actively in their child's education. Attending the event allows parents to build a collaborative relationship with teachers, fostering a shared commitment to the child's academic and personal growth. It provides face-to-face interactions with your child's teachers and an opportunity to hear the academic and behavioral expectations they each have for your child. Moreover, this engagement demonstrates to the child that their education is valued, which can boost their motivation and self-esteem. In addition, you will have an opportunity to engage with community partners and receive and learn about resources available to you and your family. Ultimately, we feel it is essential for creating a supportive and informed environment that promotes the child's success in school. So, please save the date...more info to come and we hope to see you there!
