Early Educator Spotlight for September!
Becky Vera from Provo School District is our Early Educator Spotlight for the month of September.
Her nominator said, “Becky works with preschool students with significant disabilities in Provo School District. She is so sweet, caring, patient and loving with her students and puts her whole heart into teaching. She works hard to implement strategies, activities, and instruction specific to her individual students' needs.”
A coworker said, “Becky is an amazing example of a student-first oriented teacher. She meets her students where they are academically, physically, and mentally, while still pushing them towards their next steps toward progress. She is great at adapting her lessons and activities to meet each students’ individual needs. She is always pushing herself to think outside the box and is open to new ideas. She is eager to learn new technology that might assist her students in learning, communicating, and self-advocating. She works hard to keep parents informed on their child’s progress at school and makes them feel like an important part of the team. Additionally, she goes the extra mile to include all IEP team members when brainstorming new ideas on how to help students in her classroom.” Congratulations Becky! We are so lucky to have your expertise in our preschools!
If you would like to nominate someone, you can do so here.

Preschool Standard Family Guides Now Available
Check out out family guides that parents/guardians can use to help them to know the critical knowledge and skills acquired at each grade level/span. Families are important partners in achieving the Utah State Board of Education’s vision that “each student is prepared to succeed and lead by having knowledge and skills to learn, engage civically, and lead meaningful lives.” The purpose of these resources is to help families better understand what their children should learn, when a child may need more help or when a child would benefit from extra challenges. By using these resources families may find more ways to advance their child’s learning at home while encouraging growth in their communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The resources library can be found here. Here are the links to the resource documents for families of 3 year olds and 4 year olds.
