Seawell Peek At the Week

Seawell Elementary School Updates!
Greetings Seawell Seahawk Families!!! I hope that everyone was able to remain safe and dry during our weather event last week. Note that in the event that we are on site during severe weather involving tornadoes, etc. we do have procedures and protocols that involve students in exterior locations being relocated during the watch phase of any weather event. Our front office is also equipped with a weather radio to help keep us updated with fast changing conditions, if need be.
Note that we will continue to remind students and staff members about safety procedures in addition to adhering to district/state guidelines regarding protocols and updates. Seawell Seahawks will continue to Safely Soar:)
September Is (Was:) Attendance Awareness Month
Why is Elementary Attendance so important?
Elementary is where student begin to establish habits and patterns for good attendance throughout school career, students with poor elementary attendance tend to have poor secondary attendance, as they move through the grades, it can become more difficult to improve attendance as students move to secondary, early intervention, as in everything, is key!
Consistent good school attendance reduces school anxiety and reinforces positive relationships outside of the home, this builds resilience and SEL skills for our students, and fosters positive mental health
When you’re here you learn! Missing 10% or more of school can have serious impacts on learning and contribute to learning loss, it can also have serious impacts on students SEL skills, it also means students in need of intervention may be missed until things become severe.

CLASSROOM CORNER
New Pre-K Playground is Almost Ready!!!
The surfacing for our Pre-K playground has finally been poured into place. This does not mean that it is ready for foot traffic. This is a great time to talk to our learning community about respect:) Please do not allow students, pets, or bicycles to enter this area as it may delay our very eager Pre-K classes access. The rubber has to have a certain amount of time to cure, etc. The next step will be fencing and possibly seating in the next weeks. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in advance.
Greetings parents,
Please only complete the Parent communication OPT-OUT form if you do not want room parents to have your information. Note that our room parents only reach out in the event that your input/support is needed for specific activities/events related to your classroom and that your email will not be shared with anyone else.
