Dear Families,

Last week, Pershing hosted a group of principals and district administrators from various school districts in Texas who wanted to observe students and classroom instruction at a high performing middle school in California. It was great to have the opportunity to show off our students and campus and we appreciate them coming out to visit!

I also wanted to take a moment to remind families that we need your support and help when it comes to students' use of cell phones and social media. Recently there have been multiple instances where students have come to school distressed over social media posts or interactions they had with peers online over the weekend or in the evening after school hours. While we recognize that every family must decide for themselves the amount of cell phone and social media use that is appropriate for their individual child we ask that you help us by reminding students to follow the Panther PRIDE THINK rule before posting anything online. Is what I am about to post True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, or Kind? And if it is not, don't post it. We also encourage families to closely monitor their child's cell phone and social media use when they are at home. And as always thank you for your support and partnership in helping us so we can keep the focus at school on learning.

If you are 8th grader interested in getting a jump start on your high school courses this summer, Patrick Henry is offering a CCTE Career Pathway Internship Course. SHIFTING TO MICROSOFT TEAMS

At the end of this month SDUSD will no longer be utilizing zoom for online video meetings and conferences. Instead, SDUSD schools are shifting to Microsoft Teams as the platform we will be utilizing for online video meetings and conferences.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Tdap VACCINATION NEEDED FOR ALL FUTURE 7th GRADERS

A friendly reminder that before students can enter 7th grade they need a Tdap booster. We know how challenging it can be to get appointments so if your child is currently in 6th grade don't forget to ask your physician about scheduling their Tdap booster.

SPORTS PHOTOS FOR THE YEARBOOK

Yearbook needs your help. We are including the Pershing sports teams in the yearbook but we need pictures. If you happen to have any pictures that we can use, please sent them our way. We have plenty of track pictures. We are still in need of both girls and boys basketball as well as the new sports that are starting, soccer and volleyball. Coach Litvin from the Henry Wrestling Program wanted to make sure all female athletes are aware there is still space to join the girl's wrestling program. He is working in partnership with Lewis Middle to create a boys middle school team and a separate girls middle school team for students in the Henry Cluster.
