TASC LONE STAR DISTRICT 18 NEWS
LOCAL LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES FOR YOUR STUDENTS AND YOU!

From the Coordinator:
Happy Spring Semester Advisors!!
I hope that you all have a great 2nd semester. This is always an easier one for me--one student council trip each month always seems to make the semester go faster. If you're not doing these things, you should give them a try. It also helps to have other advisors with whom to bounce ideas around.
We will be doing something this year that we haven't in awhile. State Report Verification will take place at the Spring Convention in addition to elections as always. You are HIGHLY encouraged to turn yours in IN-PERSON because we are meeting on March 1st and final reports to the state will be turned in on March 3rd. If you are present and there are fixable errors, you will be able to do this quickly and easily. If you are not present, you will only have one day to fix anything and that may be difficult.
This newsletter contains information on the following:
Spring Convention
Elections
District 18 T-shirts
State Report Verification
District 18 Scholarships
TASC Annual Conference
Sincerely,
Chris Helkey

You do not need to have your official rep as of the Spring Convention. However, by the end of the year we will ask for the official rep. This should be a student who can attend ALL District 18 events. We need continuity in our executive board, so a student who is involved in multiple activities might not be the best school rep. Remember your school is running for office, not that student, but they will serve as your representative. They should be able to attend a summer meeting, fall, winter, and spring. The president school rep should also be able to attend the steering committee meeting in June.
