Appleton Echo
Information for Returning to School - September 2024
Welcome Back
We hope you've had a wonderful summer break and that your children are very excited to return for the start of the new academic year. We welcome our new reception cohort and a few other new pupils across the school. We also welcome back Mrs Kirkpatrick as our Year 5/6 class teacher.
The purpose of this newsletter is to give a few updates in readiness for Tuesday, when the children return to school. Mr Snowden and the team will be around to answer any questions you may have upon return.
Until we see you on Tuesday, do take the time to read the information below and enjoy the rest of the time left before the start of term.

Family Information - Anything to share
As we prepare to welcome our children back to school, is there anything you would like us to know? This might be something really positive or something that might concern your child.
If you'd like to share any information with us before the start of school, please complete the form below by 5pm on Sunday evening.
Red Tie Assembly - Year 6 Parents
We begin the year with our Year 6 children's red tie presentation assembly. We would like to welcome parents/carers of Year 6 pupils to join us at 9am on Tuesday morning. The assembly should last no longer than half an hour, and this marks the beginning of the year six journey. If you can make it, please enter via the main entrance at 8:55am.
School Practices & Procedures to Safeguard Children
A couple of reminders about the site:
- The school gates open at 0830. Class teachers will be present at this time to welcome children into school.
- Arrivals after 0845 should be through the school office. Pupils are officially late at this time and will need to sign in at the entrance.
- At the end of the school day, gates open at 1500. Early Years and Year 1 and 2 children depart classrooms at 1510. Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 children depart classrooms at 1515.
- Please let the office know if you are going to be late or someone other than the normal person is asked to collect your child.
- Children will be handed over to parents/carers by the adult leading the class at the end of the day. Only those with permission to walk home alone will be allowed to leave without the parent/carer present.
PE Days
Class teachers will inform you via Class Dojo when your child's class will do PE. On these days, children will spend the day in their PE kit, rather than changing in school.
Our expectations for PE kit are clearly defined on the school uniform page of the school website. This means that all pupils will need to follow this guidance.
Club Night
Club night for this half term will be Thursdays evenings from 3:15pm to 4pm.
Dates for your Diary
Tuesday 3rd September 2024 - 0830
The school gates open for the Autumn Term to all pupils.
Further dates will be added as we move into the term.

No Nuts in School
We have children in school who are severely allergic to nuts. As this is the case, it is vitally important that nuts do not enter the school premises. You can help us by ensuring your child doesn't bring nuts into school for any reason. Please take care when selecting items for pack ups and snacks.
