Medication Including Over the Counter
A quick reminder about the board policy regarding medication: All medication including over-the-counter medication (i.e. Tylenol, Motrin, TUMS, cough drops, etc.) must have a MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION FORM. This form requires both the parent's and the medical provider's signature. Without both signatures, we cannot give medication to your student. Also, the school cannot provide this medication. You must supply this medication for your student. The clinic does not have extra. This comes from board policy found here: https://meetings.boardbook.org/Public/Organization/2615
If your child is sick...
Students are not allowed to return to school if:
They have a fever.
They must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT the aid or use of medication.
They must be vomit or diarrhea free for 24 hours.
Please do not send medication in with your student.
Staff is not allowed to dispense any medication without a signed Medical Authorization Form signed by a physician.

Free Book Table!
Hello Hornung Families! If you are cleaning out your home libraries over break, we are taking donations for our free book table of gently used picture or chapter books. It's been going really well so far this week and we want to make sure we are never depleted of our supply. We plan to do it before spring break, as well as summer break. Thank you!
BAS Mental Health and Wellness
As a district we are increasing our efforts to support the Mental Health and Wellness of our students, families and the community by focusing on Relationships, Student Wellness, and Increasing a Mindset for Learning and Growth. Each week we will share a Tip/Resource.
Additional resources and information can be found on our BAS Wellness & Mental Health website or download the new App by typing in Brighton Area Schools on the itunes store or google play. This app will allow students, parents, staff and community members access to resources and support in the areas of Mental Health & Wellness. In addition, you can receive notifications on what is happening throughout BAS and be updated on future events and information.
Attention Livingston County Parents!
In an effort to proactively support students' overall well-being, we're partnering with ParentGuidance.org to provide a monthly virtual Mental Health Series developed by licensed therapists.
This series will be virtual, interactive, and is designed to help parents and caregivers support students. Starting in November, you can join these monthly sessions both on-site at your district or online for remote viewing. Attendance and interactions are kept completely anonymous from other viewers.
Friendly Reminder - Therapy Dog
We wanted to share a friendly reminder to our families about pets on school grounds. Because our school has a therapy dog, we ask that non-service animals be kept at home. This is for the safety of our therapy dog, Suzie. When Suzie is at school she is trained to do a job. When other dogs are on the property during school hours it is distracting for her and/or could put her in potential danger.
Thank you for understanding.
Important Reminder!
Reporting Your Student's Absence in Parent Connect
There is a helpful feature in Parent Connect that allows you to enter your student’s absence. Simply log into parent connect and click on the link Report Absence. The Report Absence link will open a screen for you to complete. If you have more than one student check the name of the student for whom an absence is being submitted. Add the applicable dates. If you check the All Day flag attendance will be submitted for the am and pm periods. If you do not check the All Day flag times must be entered and attendance will be submitted for whichever periods meet during the time range (based on period schedule). If you use Parent Connect to report your child's absence you do not need to call the attendance line.
