Gratitude Is My Attitude
November 2024
In the words of Alphonse Karr, a prominent French journalist, "We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorns have roses." Life depends on how you look at things. Are you looking at the thorns or the roses? We should look for the roses in our lives and be THANKFUL for what we have!
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month
The struggle to fulfill basic needs can be very stressful for many families. We are still feeling the ripple effect of the pandemic and there are many resources that can provide support.
DOE Resources for Families in Unstable Housing
Families experiencing unstable housing are covered by enrollment guidelines provided in the McKinney-Vento Act. Please contact a community liaison in your area.

Track Your Attendance!
Did you know? Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read well by 3rd grade, pass important classes and graduate on time.
It's not too late to track your attendance with our 2024-2025 school year attendance calendar. Aim to stay under 3 absences each quarter. Every time you miss a day, place a X on the calendar. At the end, tally them up. Challenge yourself to improve and unlock your personal best!
See you at school!
Parents, THANK YOU for making your child's regular attendance a top priority!
This newsletter is a joint collaboration of the DOE Central District's School Social Workers and Human Services Professionals. The purpose is to highlight information that you may find useful, and does not serve as a comprehensive list. We do not endorse any specific organization. Mahalo!
