Define360 Summer Camp Newsletter
June: Week 3 & 4 Recap
Assalamu Alaykum Dear Parents,
Eid Al Adha Mubarak! May the complete Blessings of Dhul Hijjah, ‘Arafa, and Eid of Al Adha be upon your families.
We pray that this newsletter finds you well as we reflect on an exciting end to the June session of the Define 360 Summer Camp!
Alhamdulillah, the staff and students have had a wonderful time, and we are thrilled to share more information about the fun experiences your children have had at our camp!
Week 3 - The Lost Treasure (Patience and Prayer)
Students read the story “The Librarian of Basra: A true story from Iraq” which brought to light the courage, patience, innovation, and strength of a Muslim woman who saved 30,000 library books from a bombing during the war in the Middle East. Her courage, in the face of danger, demonstrated the power an individual has with patience, prayers, and hard work.
Students further learned about and connected with the names of Allah SWT such as As-Salam (The Source of All Peace, Safety, and Good) and As-Sabur (The Most Patient).
The students also learned and reflected on the story of Prophet Ayyub (A) and saw him as a remarkable example of a patient man.
In STEAM this week, students practiced patience while building a density tower as they had to wait for the layers to settle to be accurately visible with distinction. They learned that patience and prayer are the keys to growth in our lives, similar to the colorful density layer tower.
In Fitness, the students greatly enjoyed the exercises by the visiting coach AbdurRaheem AcLagan!

Week 4 - Falling into Darkness: The Making of the Devil (Arrogance)
Students reflected on Prophet Musa (A) and the Prophet SAW and learned about their amazing anger management skills. Students also looked at Sunnah's easy ways of dealing with anger!
The stories of Prophet Adam (A) and Musa (A) were also revisited, and the students learned the dua Allahumma Tahhir Qalbi Minal Kibr ( O Allah! Purify my heart from malice, hatred, jealousy and pride). We reflected on Allah’s beautiful names of Allah Al-Malik (The King and Owner of Dominion) and Al-Rafee (The One who Elevates).
In STEAM, the students built a "fireworks in a jar" model and a lava lamp using a combination of liquids. They connected this science knowledge with the Islamic lessons by relating how our emotions are like lava building up inside a volcano as they need to be released slowly / in a positive way in order to prevent an explosion!
Additionally, the students went through a Hajj Simulation on Tuesday, the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah! They were able to learn about Hajj by experiencing a makeshift version of the pilgrimage. They traveled through different stations we set up to represent the various steps of the journey, and they even wore abayas and ihrams!
