Dear Jaguar Band Families,

As we wrap up another odd week when we had a virtual school day and a canceled football game, we look forward to what this week has to offer.

This is a week that is all about improvement and addition! We do not have a football game this week; however, we do have two very important rehearsals on Monday and Thursday evenings! This week we plan to complete the “JOHNSON: this is us” show and, are not only adding the finishing drill, but are also planning to involve the JHS Cheer and Rosettes in the final product! It’s going to be awesome!

The District/Region/Area/All-State process is going to be here within a week, and those students auditioning need to be prepared! Can’t wait to see you guys shine in this process!

This week is the last chance for students to submit their Fight-song and School-song videos. Parents, please help ensure that your student has submitted their video following the rules that have been sent! We need EVERYONE to submit their video!

As the winter weather is changing, so will the music you hear your student practicing! Our Christmas Concert is going to be here in the blink of an eye! Mark your calendar! The concert is scheduled for Saturday, December 12th. A specific time has not been set, but we can tell you it is going to be awesome! We will include performances from the three JHS Concert Bands, JHS Color Guard, JHS Jazz Ensemble, JHS Percussion Ensemble, JHS Choirs, the Dahlstrom MS Bands and possibly the McCormick MS Bands. Just know that it is going to be a wonderful evening of music. In an effort to provide the safest, audience-and-family-friendliest, and magical seasonal environment possible, we will decorate and hold our Christmas Concert in our outdoor courtyard theater at Johnson High School!

Remember, tomorrow (Monday) the school day is Asynchronous just as was Friday. However, we do have in person rehearsal 5 - 8 p.m., as usual! See everyone at practice and let’s have an awesome week! Go Jags!

November 14, 2020, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., join us online for the Jagtastic Christmas Auction! So many generous band parents and community members have contributed to the online auction, and we are so excited about all of the great items that are available for purchase.

Please check out the Facebook page where items are being shared, so that you can be ready for Saturday's event and share this fundraising opportunity with your friends and family! This is the Band Booster's Winter Fundraiser and is being held just in time for Christmas shopping! ALL profits from this fundraiser benefit the Johnson Band program which includes Wind Instruments, Percussion and Color Guard. There is also an event page where you can indicate your interest but the auction will be held on the Jagtastic Christmas Auction 2020 FB page.

• Check out the new Johnson Band Spirit Gear! JB Band Merchandise is now in stock! Check out our online store for performance style caps, hoodies, long sleeve t-shirts and short-sleeved t-shirts. Both long and shirt sleeve t-shirts are available in a large JB logo and small JB logo style and have "Buda, TX" down the back.

  
  

• The OFFICIAL JAGUAR BAND MASKS and jugs are part of your uniform! If you need additional/replacement MASKS, click here! All items purchased online can be picked up on Mondays from 7:15 - 8 p.m.

• Daily COVID Screening: Students should fill out the Daily COVID Screening Form BEFORE coming to ALL practices AND game days.

• The new show shirts (JOHNSON: This is Us!) are also available again for purchase!
  

We need volunteers to help sell our Johnson Swag during football games. With limited fundraising opportunities due to COVID, selling at games is a great opportunity for us to raise funds that can help support the Jaguar Band.

You will be working with someone who is in charge of the cash box and who knows what to do. The only requirements are that you bring a fully charged cell phone and have the Square App on your phone so that you can charge customers. Please know that the Spirit Gear table is open for as long as you are busy/selling items. For the first game, we sold right through until the game ended, but for the second game, we closed down during the 4th quarter.

This section is for all new (Rookie!) parents! Here we will focus on various points of information that we believe would be helpful to families new to the Jaguar Band.

Full uniform

Please help your student remember the full uniform includes bringing the band-issued water jug (already filled with water), the official band mask, and black socks!

COMING THIS WEEK! Parent Section Leads

Don't know what a "bibber" is? Not sure what time your child needs to be at the school? Have you wondered any other questions that your child didn't know but that you didn't want to go to the directors to ask? Well, we have the solution for you! The Jaguar Band will now be having "Parent Section Leads". There will be a parent designated per section that will be available to you as a first source of information! This will be a great way for us to not only improve our lines of communication but to build relationships in our Jaguar Band family during a challenging time - something that is usually easier to do when we are all seeing each other so often during a regular "Bandtober"! So keep your eyes open for an email from your Parent Section Lead!

Volunteer !

You don't have to be a "veteran" member to volunteer for a committee! In fact, with such a young band, it is important that rookie parents step into roles early - just like our students are having to do! We will start preparing for the 2021 marching season this Spring, so please know that we will be reaching out via email soon! Or better yet, let us know if you have any particular interests by filling out our Committee Interest Form!

Communications

The band directors and boosters primarily rely on Charms to communicate information. Make sure your information is up to date in Charms. Reminder that the Jaguar Band school code is: JohnsonJaguarBand

Missed the deadline to submit your celebration ad? Well, it's not too late! We are still taking orders for FOOTBALL PROGRAM ADS and ask all of our band families to share this information with friends and acquaintances. Ads submitted before the next printing deadline (generally Fridays) will be included in the next weeks program. For details and templates, click here.

Order a personal ad to celebrate your student in this year's Jaguar football program! These programs are a great keepsake and is open to all Johnson students. Your personal ad will be featured in every home Jaguar football game program published this season! The football programs are also great advertising space for local businesses!

• If volunteers arrive during school hours, they will also be required to check-in at the school front office. The front office will verify that volunteers filled out the form.

The band will only perform at "home" games (and the Lehman "away" game). Fans can watch all home and away games at http://vypelive.com/web/team/view?id=6600. Please feel free to share!

The new hats and spirit gear are now available for order via our website.

We have a soft-style and trucker style hat available along with two new t-shirt designs and an ultra-comfortable long sleeve hoodie shirt. Items are in stock and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis with additional items being ordered at regular intervals. Orders will be available for pick up at JHS on Mondays and this information will be communicated via email.

Chrome Emblems have arrived and are for sale on the website for $15!

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.
