Dear Families
Welcome back! I hope you enjoy reading the first newsletter of the 2024-25 academic year. I hope you have all had restful summer breaks and are settling into the rhythm of the new term.
I’m delighted to share with families an update on our summer building works which have now been completed. Our new PE changing rooms are now fully operational, the Astros are ready for action, and the revamped reception area and ground floor flooring have made a huge difference to the school’s entrance. The new open-plan student toilets are also looking very modern and fresh. We are thrilled with these improvements and know they will enhance both the learning and social environments for our students.
A huge thank you to all parents for your ongoing support with our new mobile phone policy. Your cooperation has made a big difference in maintaining a focused learning atmosphere. A special thank you to the parents of the one or two students who had a little slip-up this week; your support is very much appreciated.
Next week sees the start of our extra-curricular clubs, beginning from Monday. We’re excited to introduce 'Launch Week', showcasing the wide range of extra-curricular activities available to all students. Whether you're into sports, arts, science, or music, there’s something for everyone. These opportunities are a great way for our students to explore new interests, build skills, and connect with others. Please keep an eye on the website for more information, we will be updating this over the next week.
We are also looking forward to welcoming the parents of our Year 7, Year 11, and Year 12 students next Wednesday for our Information Evening. This will be an excellent opportunity to hear about the year ahead, ask questions, and meet your child's Head of Year and Form Tutor. A separate letter has been sent out to invited families.
A final reminder that our school hours are now 08:30 to 15:00, Monday to Friday. Please ensure that your child is in school, on time, every day, and in full school uniform in line with our uniform policy.
Lastly, it has been wonderful to see our rewards system already off to such a great start! We’ve seen plenty of bronze, silver, and gold learners across the school. Keep up the excellent work – it’s fantastic to see so many students being recognised for their efforts.
Wishing you all a restful weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday at 08:30.
Kind regards
Mr P Grills
