The Titan Times: Week 6

Titan Families,

We hope that you're starting to get into routines at home with school and extra curricular commitments. It's been a joy getting to know your Ttian(s) more each day. Thank you for sharing your family with us. This week, August comes to an end, and we have a few events going on to finish the month strong with our families and community.

To support your understanding of specific grade level routines and expectations, we have scheduled evenings for families to learn about specifics and see classrooms on a smaller scale. One of our first curriculum nights for Titan Families is in grades 4th and 5th grade on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Tuesday, September 3rd is 2nd- 3rd Grade's Curriculum Night, and Thursday, September 5, 2024 is Kindergarten and 1st Grade's Curriculum Night. We hope you can join us!

We also have a Spirit Night scheduled on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Dog Haus from 4 - 11 PM. A Spirit Night is your opportunity to enjoy a meal with your family and other members of our Titan Community while also contributing to our PTA's fundraising goals. If you choose to participate, mention River Place Elementary, and they will give 20% of your check to our PTA! We hope to see you there!

We are excited to share the information about our newest committee, the Educational Access Ambassadors (EAA)! The Office of Educational Access (OEA) is seeking to establish an ambassador group of LISD parents/guardians during the 2024-2025 school year. Additional information and the application link can be found here. This application will remain open until Thursday, September 5th at 5 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Neidecker.

LISD changed their volunteer system and your past log in may not work. If you are a past LISD volunteer, check the “Volunteer Portal Link” to see if you can sign in. If not, then you can email support@raptortech.com or register again using “Volunteer Application Link”.

In a joint partnership, Leander ISD and Texas Childrens’ Pediatrics will host a Back-to-School Vaccine Drive from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Texas Children’s North Austin location.

No appointment is necessary, and patients will be vaccinated on a first come-first served basis. To help speed up the process, we do ask that you sign-up and complete the necessary forms ahead of time.

• Parents/guardians should be prepared to present their insurance cards and photo ID.

• Please bring your child's current vaccine record.

• If unavailable, presenting the email from your campus nurse detailing the required vaccine will suffice.

• Not sure which vaccine your child is missing please reach out to your campus nurse

• Returning LISD students

• Parent/guardian can request a copy of your students vaccine record by emailing student.records@leanderisd.org

After the visit, insurance will be billed. The Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) program will also be available for those who qualify.

Immunization requirements for the 2024–25 school year are available on the district site’s Immunizations page.

Remember: In Texas, a student must show acceptable documentation of the state-required vaccinations – or exemption waiver – before entering, attending, or transferring to a childcare facility or public or private elementary or secondary school. School nurses will be back in clinics Monday, Aug. 5, to answer questions.

-October 8th to December 19th every Tuesday (unless you get a lead or featured role then every Tuesday AND Thursday) 3-5pm

-January 7th to February 28th every Tuesday AND Thursday for everyone 3-5pm

-March 3rd to 6th 4-7pm

Families interested in being a part of the Free/Reduced lunch Program need to reapply each year. Please use this link to apply for the 24-25 school year if you haven't already done so. Also, if you are needing assistance with food for your student(s) for the weekend, you may use this google form to sign up for the Backpack Program. Your Titan(s) would receive a bag of food/snacks that they can put in their backpacks to take home each Friday. Please reach out to our school counselor if you have any questions.

• Get funds to teachers to supplement classroom needs.
• Connect with teachers, parents, and administration to voice needs for our school and our Titans.
