SENIOR KICK-OFF
We are excited to welcome you back to the new school year. We are reaching out for help from our 12th grade families to help with a special senior event on September 5, 2024 from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
On September 5, LVHS is hosting Senior Kickoff and we are in need of breakfast donations for our seniors.
While underclassmen participate in county-wide assessments, seniors will be rotating through the following sessions:
CAS Introduction & Brainstorming: A creative session for students to explore and brainstorm their Creativity, Activity, and Service projects.
School Links Presentation: School counselors will provide valuable insights and resources to help seniors navigate their college application/ post high school journey.
Senior-Only Field Day: A fun-filled hour of kickball and lawn games designed exclusively for our senior students to bond and celebrate.
To ensure our seniors have a great start to their day, we're seeking breakfast donations. Your support can make a big difference! Please consider contributing by checking out our Amazon wish list above and selecting Gift Registry Address (340 North Maple Ave. Purcellville, VA). Donations can also be dropped off at the Main Office during school hours. The link to order is also available here:

Thank you for your generosity and support in making this event rewarding for our seniors.
TESTING
MAP TESTING
LCPS administers NWEA’s MAP Growth Math tests to students enrolled in Algebra I and Geometry in the fall to determine their instructional readiness level. The MAP Growth testing is scheduled for August 26 and 27, 2024. It will be administered during class time.
MAP Growth tests are adaptive, providing a detailed picture of what your student knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below grade level expectations. MAP Growth tests also provide immediate and accurate information about your student’s learning, enabling teachers to personalize instruction to meet students’ needs.
Questions about the MAP Assessment can be directed to your student's Math teacher.
i-READY TESTING & VOCABULARY ASSESSMENT
SEPTEMBER 5TH
During an extended homeroom on Sept 5, students in grades 9-11 will be taking the i-Ready Reading and Vocabulary assessment. This county-wide assessment is an adaptive diagnostic, and it focuses on three core areas: vocabulary, comprehension of literature, and comprehension of informational texts. The i-Ready allows us to meet your child where he/she is and provides us with data to inform instruction. This test is important for both under and upperclassmen as it gives teachers insight into your child’s skill level, and may predict how he/she may perform on other standardized tests (PSAT, SAT, ACT, SOLs, AP, IB). . If your child is absent during the testing date or attends the academies, your student may be scheduled to make-up the test in English class or study hall.
This is an important assessment, so please encourage your child to do his/her best on it. In addition, your child will need a charged Chromebook and a set of headphones (earbuds).
Parents will receive a score report with their student’s reading achievement scores several weeks after the test window, in ParentVUE under the Documents tab.
Please reach out to melissa.stecura@lcps.org, LVHS’s testing coordinator, or your child’s English teacher with any questions.
TESTING COORDINATOR
Ms. Stecura is Loudoun Valley’s School Testing Coordinator. Her office is located in the main office. The best way to contact Ms. Stecura is through email at melissa.stecura@lcps.org.
