Youth Participatory Action Research Project
Everett High School English Learner students who are completing a Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) project were invited to present at a conference hosted by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The talented students showcased the work they have completed since the initiative began in March, under the direction of guidance counselor Fernanda Andrade and Administrative Assistant Olga Mazza. YPAR projects encourage and train students to conduct systematic research to improve their lives, their communities, and the institutions intended to serve them.
Everett High’s YPAR team is currently in the process of determining its final research question, and it looks forward to sharing updates with the community as its work continues.
Every Bulldog Has its Day!
In accordance with its district-wide wellness policy, the Everett Public Schools (EPS) is expanding its offerings of physical activities for students. The EPS has held a Middle School March Madness Basketball Tournament for more than 10 years, and last year the Physical Education Department launched a World Cup soccer competition. This spring, the EPS held its first-ever Flag Football Tournament, which proved to be very popular with students and faculty.
Like the March Madness format, every K-8 school fielded boys and girls flag football teams. Every school played each other once during the round-robin portion of the competition, followed by semifinals and championship games.
The Madeline English Bulldogs captured both the girls and boys championships. The Bulldogs girls team (above) defeated the Whittier in the semifinals and the Keverian in the title game, while the boys team (below) edged the Parlin and Keverian schools en route to the title.
Congratulations to the participating players and faculty coaches for starting what we hope will be an annual spring tradition.
See everyone in June for the World Cup!
Teacher Appreciation Week at the Keverian

The celebration started with a flourish on Monday, as staff enjoyed a breakfast hosted by building leadership, Cinco De Mayo snacks provided by City Year, and cake and flowers courtesy of Central Administration. On Tuesday, teachers made candy snack bags at the Keverian School Candy Bar. On Wednesday, Principal Alex Naumann traveled the school with the Keverian Canteen Cart, providing staff with snacks and drinks. On Thursday, the PTO hosted a staff luncheon. In addition, throughout the week there were giveaways of gift cards to Starbucks, Target, Dunkin’ Donuts, Amazon, McKinnon’s, and more.
