Donation of Mandarin books and materials from GSU
Last week GLOBE received a very generous donation of Mandarin books and materials from Georgia State University (GSU). We are looking forward to having these resources in classrooms soon. GLOBE sends thanks to our parent volunteers, and to board member Kimberly Henshaw. We also send a special thanks to GSU for their partnership and support of our program. We love our partners!
This Friday we’re getting ready for GLOBE Trot with Dollar Day
Bring in $1 (or more if you'd like) during Dollar Day on November 8 to get easy credit towards your fundraising for GLOBE Trot. Turn in your dollar(s) to your teacher so they can ensure it gets added to your individual and homeroom fundraising total. Please write the student's name, homeroom, grade, track and dollar amount on the envelope. And remember, our 10th annual GLOBE Trot will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024.
GLOBE families should have received log-in information from Qgiv to access your child's GLOBE Trot fundraising page. You can also search for your child’s name here or contact Andrew Dahl, board member and GLOBE Trot Committee lead, for help.
Be sure to check the weekly newsletter for frequent updates over the next couple of weeks and please check out our awesome event sponsors listed below. Go GLOBE!

Square 1 Art - view your student's artwork
Your student will soon be bringing home their Square 1 Art packet. Square 1 Art is a school fundraiser that allows students to create gifts and keepsakes with their own art on it. Visit the Square 1 Art website to view your child's artwork. The order deadline is November 20. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Cottrell.
Last chance to check Lost & Found
Lost and found will be cleaned out and items will be donated by Friday, November 8. Please come in during school hours to find any lost items, and also have your child(ren) check. To volunteer to help organize/clean out Lost & Found at Lower Campus, sign-up here. You can volunteer between 7:30am and 2:00pm. Please note, you will need to be logged in to the PTCC website in order to see the volunteer slots. Thank you.
Library
Students now have access to their individual Accessit accounts in order to view current library loans, overdues, and checkout history. Directions for accessing your account can be found in this video. Closed captions are available in Spanish, French, and Mandarin by clicking the gear on the bottom right of the video. Click here to go to GLOBE’s Accessit page. Please reach out to Ms. Stowe with any questions. This is a great way to manage checkouts if your child is not yet done with a book so that you don’t keep receiving overdue notices.

8th grade Leadership Class is launching Project Period, from November 11 to December 6
The 8th grade Leadership Class is launching Project Period, an initiative to enhance the quality of feminine hygiene products in our school bathrooms. While basic products are currently available, we are working to provide our students with higher-quality options. We're also collecting new underwear in all sizes.
How you can help: Donate new, unopened feminine hygiene products. Drop off items during morning carpool. Recommended Brands: Kotex U, Always, Playtex Sport, Tampax.
Collection dates: November 11 - December 6.
Your donations will help upgrade the products available to our students, ensuring they have access to the quality feminine hygiene items they prefer. Thank you for supporting this student-led initiative to enhance our existing resources.
Questions? Contact the 8th grade Leadership Class.

Please send your child’s home music stand with them to school that day, clearly labeled with their name. A pizza dinner will be served during the event.

The attire is ‘business casual’ and parents are encouraged to attend. Students must either go home after school or check into Aftercare before attending the banquet.
All banquets take place in the UC cafeteria and last about an hour

GLOBE YMCA Girls Soccer update
Coached by Drew Whitelegg.
U14 Team
Another win for the U14 girls. Sadly they cannot catch the league leaders, but they will come second if they avoid defeat in Saturday's final game, which won't be easy. We wish them the best of luck!
U12 Team
The U12s have the end-of-season DDY tournament this weekend (both teams).
