Weekly Updates - April 14, 2024
Happy Sunday Pirates,
We had another outstanding week at Swansboro High School that included active learning, field trips, club meetings and numerous athletic victories. The highlight was the Performing Arts production of a Little Shop of Horrors. They dazzled audiences throughout the weekend. Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday to support our Drive for Dollars athletic fundraiser. We are excited to share that we met the goal of 120 drivers for a donation of $6,000.
Our competitive math team competed at the regional competition on Thursday. In athletics, our ladies lacrosse team won their games against Cape Fear and White Oak and men won their game against West Carteret. Men's tennis won their match against Dixon. Softball and JV soccer defeated West Carteret. JV and varsity baseball defeated Dixon. In track and field, first place individual finishers included Savannah Navarro, Delaney Horton, Emma Sanders, Marielle Hirkala, Jasiah Mason, Ariana Reinert, Lisa Ferguson, Mckenna Panos, Jordan Coleman, Breana Richards, Dean Massaquoi, Kayleigh White. Team first place finishers included the men's 4x4 of Derek Buchanan, David Hare, James Yesunas, and Jack Lees. The 4x8 men's team also placed first and they included Mason Roush, John Bryan, Jordan Coleman and Jasiah Mason.
This week in athletics will include lacrosse and tennis at home and golf at Morehead on Monday. Tennis, baseball, softball and soccer will host Richlands on Tuesday. Track is at home while softball is at Jacksonville on Wednesday. Baseball, softball and soccer will compete at Croatan while tennis and men's lacrosse host games on Thursday. Girls lacrosse will host White Oak on Friday.
The baseball team is going to have a neon night Tuesday for the home game against Richlands. We are encouraging those in attendance to wear Neon in support. Along with Glow sticks, Necklaces, Bracelets, etc. We will have some glow stick to hand out as well. The Swansboro community baseball programs are hosting a 50/50 raffle. This week is also our S2S Purple Up Week that celebrates our military children. Please see the flyer in our newsletter for daily dress up themes and games at lunch. Monday will include strategic planning at 3:00 pm and Project Graduation at 6:00 pm. We will hold our quarterly lock down drill on Friday morning. Seniors are reminded to have permission slips turned in by April 26, 2024 for the senior walk and class trip. There is also a Onslow County college admission informational session via zoom on Tuesday night. See the link in the newsletter to participate.
