Ms. Hanson's Notes
Happy Halloween! We know that students who participate are ready to get out tonight and enjoy the weather and candy. We ask that students not bring their candy to school tomorrow.
DIGITAL LEARNING DAY
This Monday, your student will receive their assignments for the remote Digital Learning Day on Tuesday, November 5. Teachers are providing work digitally and in paper form. The work should be returned digitally or bring the paper copies in on Wednesday.
COFFEE CHAT
We hope to see you all tomorrow at 8 a.m. for our Coffee Chat hosted by our counselors. We can provide you with that extra boost of caffeine on that morning after Halloween.
Thanksgiving Lunch
Please refer to the information below regarding Thanksgiving lunch. We will share the official lunch times by Monday, but expect it will be close to your child’s current lunchtime. We can make arrangements for siblings to eat together at one of their lunch times.
Students pay for their lunches like they usually do. The instructions are only how to pay for guest lunches. If you choose to come and sit with your child, but not order lunch, please let the teacher know so they can be sure to make enough space available.
Guest Payment Information (2 Guests per Student - $5 each):
- Online Payments: We strongly encourage you to make online payments. Click here for online payment directions.
- Difficulty with Online Payments: If you are having trouble accessing online payments, please direct them to contact Nekee Mathis (nmathis@csdecatur.net, 470.237.0368 ext. 7607) for assistance.
- Cash Payments: Direct to Cafeteria: Alternatively, you can go directly to the cafeteria where staff can collect the necessary information and process the cash payment.
KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! You will exchange the receipt for a lunch voucher when you arrive at the school.

Walk & Roll Crossing Guard Appreciation Week
November 11-15 is Crossing Guard Appreciation Week! Help us thank the dedicated City of Decatur crossing guards who work through cold, heat, rain, and snow to keep our kids safe as they travel to and from school. We are collecting gift cards for the Crossing Guard Appreciation Lunch on November 12. Please consider dropping off a gift card with Ms. Morrow at the F.Ave front desk now through November 7th to help thank our guards for distribution at the lunch. We will also be encouraging families to provide handwritten notes and thank you cards to crossing guards on Wednesday, November 13 as part of the next Walk & Roll.

STEP UP for Decatur Youth!
DEF was founded more than 20 years ago by a group of residents who wanted to ensure that EVERY student in CSD had what they needed to learn and thrive. Today, DEF's mission remains focused on Decatur's kids and educators, and we are still 100% reliant on the support of the Decatur community. DEF puts the community's contributions where they will have the biggest impact on our students, and DEF's Step Up Circle is a special group of supporters that allows us to operate programs like Lighten the Load, Teacher Innovation Grants, behavioral health support, arts programming, and so much more. There are also benefits - for both businesses and individuals - to joining DEF's Step Up Circle (beyond the warm and fuzzy feeling you get from supporting Decatur's kids!). Visit https://decatureducationfoundation.org/step-up-circle/ to learn more about the different giving levels.
