From the Principal's Desk
Hello Rose Pioneer Families,
As mentioned in the December newsletter, first trimester report cards are available to be viewed in Skyward Family Access. After logging in, go to the left side of the screen to the “Home” section, scroll down, click on “Portfolio” and you will be able to view all current and previous report cards. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about his or her report card, or the main office if you need additional information regarding how to access Skyward Family Access.
Student-led Conferences are coming up on January 29th from 12:30 - 6:30 pm. Next week, teachers will communicate the structure and specific schedule for student-led conferences on 1/29. This event is not only informative for parents, but also packed with fun and anticipation for students as they share their learning and growth; please join us!
Below, you will find the temporary bus cancellation schedule. As a reminder, there are route closures coming up the weeks of 1/20 and 1/27. Please use the carline to drop off and pick up students. Preschool students must be signed into and out of school but all other students, Y5-5th grade, are to be dropped off and picked up curbside in front of the building. Other than preschool parents, please do not park and walk your child to class or attempt to walk up to the carline staff to retrieve your student. Simply stay in the carline and approach curbside; it really does move along quickly and safely.
Please help our Student Leadership Team with their hats, gloves, mittens and socks drive to benefit local families. More information can be found below. We are very proud of our students for this important service learning opportunity that will directly benefit our community through Neighbor for Neighbor in Davisburg.
If you aren't already connected, please like Rose Pioneer Elementary School on Facebook and @RosePioneerEl on Twitter.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Michael Beattie

THE LEADER IN ME
The Leader In Me & Core Competencies
Core Competency-Responsible Decision Making
Responsible decision-making is the ability to make positive, constructive, safe choices about your behavior and interactions with others. Using this skill includes considering the benefits and consequences of each decision and taking responsibility for the outcomes.
Practicing how to make tough decisions can help children learn how their actions affect others. Give your child a situation and talk through the problem, possible solutions and what could occur with each choice.
Here are a few problem-solving scenarios to get you started:
While playing with your little brother, he accidentally breaks your favorite toy. What do you do next?
You see a new girl playing by herself at recess. What do you say to her?
You’re eating a sugar cookie and your friend asks if he can have a bite. How do you respond?
