Brief Message From the Principal
Hello Hansen Community!
As we surpass midterms for Quarter 3, we are excited to see the continued growth of our students. Many are stretching their limits to meet the high expectations set by their teachers, and we are proud of the progress they are making. It has been rewarding to recognize and celebrate students who are consistently demonstrating respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. Weβve seen improvements in student behavior, and this positive change is a reflection of our communityβs dedication.
Our seniors are working diligently to complete their senior project portfolios and boards in preparation for their spring presentations. We are incredibly proud of all our students and the hard work they put in every day. It is an honor to be part of such a dedicated school community.

Attendance
We want to remind everyone of our check-out procedures to ensure student safety and accountability. Unless a student is of legal age, they must remain in class for the full period. If a student needs to leave early, a parent or guardian must call or come to the school to check them out.
We have noticed an increase in student absences, and as we are only 24 days into the second semester, we encourage families to prioritize attendance. Regular attendance is essential for student success, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Grades
Weβre excited to celebrate the hard work of our students this semester! On average, about 20 students have maintained straight Aβs each week, showcasing their dedication to meeting expectations and standards. To continue supporting student success, we encourage all students to make the most of FLEXβa designated 30-minute period each day for intervention and extension, where they can receive additional support from teachers. Please have conversations with your students at home, encourage them to use their time wisely, and reach out to teachers to ensure theyβre getting the best opportunities for success.
Exemption
Here is the final exemption wording from our handbook as a reminder (something to make clear is the only absences that do not count are school related... doctors excused still go towards the 3 days):
Students with a grade of an βAβ (90%) or above and no more than 3 absences.
o Absences include all missed days, excused and unexcused.
o School field trips, athletic events, extracurricular school excused events, and college visits do not count towards the absences.
Eligibility
This is an important reminder, especially for athletes participating in track or students involved in FFA/BPA this spring. Our next eligibility check will take place on March 17th, following the end of the quarter on March 13th. To remain eligible, students must meet the following requirements:
- Satisfactorily complete 5 out of 7 classes.
- Be enrolled full-time (minimum of 4 out of 7 classes).
- Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 must have an academic improvement plan in place, developed by the school district.
- Students must be on track to graduate.
Please ensure your student is meeting these expectations and reach out with any questions!
