What's It All About?
When Is It?
Monday - Thursday (except for July 4th)
7:45-12:50
Particulars
-You must wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a T-shirt with a long-sleeve top/jacket over it. Dress appropriately for outdoor education in any type of weather (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray/wipes).
-You must have a Smartphone/laptop (Chromebook) to take pictures and create projects.
-Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily for all students.
-Transportation to Spruce Run will be provided.
-You must agree to act in a mature manner and abide by all safety precautions at the center. There will be younger children all around so you must stay with your environmental science group.
*** You must alert the staff/teacher to any allergies prior to coming to the center.
How Does It All Break Down?
You will be completing 3 major units and presenting your findings/project at the end of each unit. The majority of your time will be spent outside in the field with you conducting your own studies.
-Earth's Systems: Interconnected Spheres of Earth
-In this unit, the focus is on the connections and interactions between Earth’s spheres (the hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere and lithosphere).

-Work on associated real-world project and present at the end of the unit.
2nd Unit:
-Earth's Resources
-Earth’s resources include energy, air, water, soil, land, wildlife and the wilderness. The study should incorporate the availability of Earth’s resources, extraction of the resources, contamination problems, remediation techniques and the storage/disposal of the resources or by-products. Conservation, protection and sustainability of Earth’s resources are also included.

-Work on associated real-world project and present at the end of the unit.
3rd Unit:
-Global, Environmental Problems and Issues
-This topic is a culminating section that incorporates the previous topics and applies them to a global or international scale.
