...Students Will Still Have Fun in the Gym tomorrow!
Thanks to all of our Specialists (PhyEd, Art, Music, Media), students will participate in special activities in the gym! This will happen during their regular specialist time and by grade level.
Students will need clean gym shoes and a water bottle.
Thank you to those who offered to volunteer. With it indoors and limited games/space, we won't need volunteers. Let's hope next year it will be sunny and dry!
No visitors please. Thank you for understanding.
NO SCHOOL MONDAY
Monday is Memorial Day and there is no school for students and staff. The building will be closed.
Enjoy your long holiday weekend!
School Library Books Due Back
There are still 352 books checked out. Individual emails will be sent to parents/guardians tomorrow. The emails will include information on how to pay for lost books.
Congratulations to Mrs. Toscano's kindergarten class for being the first class to have all their library books returned!
Please note that lost library book fees follow students all the way to high school. For many years now, Seniors who have library fees or other lost book fees will not receive tickets to the graduation.
If your child still has a library book or two at home, please send them back to school as soon as possible. Thank you.
Paw Award Assembly Friday, May 31
The Paw Award Assembly is a celebration at the end of each semester to celebrate PAWsitive behavior and expectations. Each classroom teacher, specialists, monitors, and support staff get to select one student who has exemplified what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind here at Lester Park. We diligently select students to minimize overlap and maximize representation of all students.
Parents of the recipients will be contacted by our principal, Anna Cawcutt to attend the assembly as a surprise to their student.
Moving forward we will celebrate quarterly to recognize more of our PAWsome Lester Park Labs!
If you have any questions or concerns please contact our PBIS (positive behavioral interventions & supports) coordinator- Jordan Fleek, jordan.fleek@isd709.org, 336-8875 x3165
Lunch Menu Change
There is a lunch menu change for Friday, May 31. We will have Sloppy Joes instead of Fish Nuggets.
Be watching for other possible lunch menu changes, especially the last week of school.
Social Studies Feedback Survey
Duluth Public Schools' Social Studies Curriculum Committees are in the process of reviewing the current social studies curriculum in order to meet the 2021 Minnesota K-12 Social Studies Standards to be implemented during the 2026-2027 school year. To aid in this process, they are looking for feedback on the social studies curriculum from families and community members . If you are a district family member or community member, we would appreciate it if you took a moment to provide any feedback on the curriculum using this link. The survey will be open until June 15th. Thank you in advance!

Call for Coaches!
In order to support all of the kids interested in Lego Robotics, the Lester Park Foundation is seeking additional volunteer coaches for the Fall 2024 season (~Aug-Dec).
The national group "First Lego League" provides a detailed playbook, so technical expertise in robotics is not required! Our goal is for each team of 4-6 kids to have 2 volunteer coaches.
Please e-mail Gabi Hester (gazimbric@gmail.com) for more info if you might be interested.
