Immigration Information
We are witnessing a tremendous moment in our country related to our immigration families. I remember the California Prop 187 marches in the fall of 1994 by students, and I was here at RBV when over 1000+ North County students walked out in 2006, securing the campus when students were marching toward RBV. We will continue to have an inclusive and supportive learning environment for ALL students. I want to take a moment to express our deep commitment to our well-being during this time in our political and societal history.
It’s important to remember that our district will never ask students or guardians about their citizenship or immigration status. This information is personal and private, and we will never allow it to be used as a reason for discrimination or exclusion. We value the confidentiality of our students and families, and we abide by legal safeguards like FERPA to protect your information. We ask you NOT to give any immigration advice or make attempts to guide them through any legal issues they may be going through. Please work with our administration team and community liaison to provide Longhorns with the resources we can provide. We will directly communicate with our Student Services partners for guidance and support.
Please stay informed and start using various resources, such as our SDCOE partners and our VUSD website. When students or parents ask you questions, always refer to the attached documents for guidance. Regarding our mental health during this time, please continue to lean on our collegiality for support and know that VUSD HR has EAP. Remember, we are a school. Continue to teach our Longhorns about history, kindness, and how to open their minds to manage these historical moments. These PDFs will be shared with our families. Feel free to discuss them in class or with families. We will also meet with our office staff, administrators, campus assistants, and counselors to discuss protocols. We will also have our Athletic Director inform all coaches. We will also let our community partners know about these protocols. We will work with the SRO on their protocols.
We have held two in-person Know Your Rights sessions before the break and will continue working with our families. Kudos to Cecilia for leading this work. Together, we can continue to have a safe and nurturing space where all students feel welcomed and have the opportunity to thrive. Also, know that ALL of this information can be changed tomorrow based on the changing state and federal laws. We will keep you informed; this information is what we have as of 1/24/25.
Pick Up Policy Reminder
To protect our students, when picking them up early from school:

Sport Request Form
Are you looking for a sport but do not see it on our website? The form below is to request the school to look into offering new CIF sports on campus.
Sport Request
Dear RBV Families and Community,
We’re excited to announce a new initiative to strengthen collaboration and dialogue between our students, families, and athletic program. Beginning this school year, we’re introducing a Sport Request Form designed to give students and community members the opportunity to express interest in adding new sports to our school’s athletic offerings. This form allows us to gather valuable insights, gauge interest, and better understand the needs and wishes of our community when it comes to expanding athletic opportunities.
While we are committed to exploring each request thoughtfully, please know that there are various factors that affect our ability to implement new sports, including resources, staffing, and facility availability. Even so, your input is essential as it helps us make informed decisions and better align our programs with the interests and passions of our students.
The Sport Request Form is available on our website at www.rbvathletics.com, and we welcome submissions throughout the year.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school community and for helping us continue to foster a dynamic and inclusive athletic environment for our students.
We are seeing an increase in students riding electric bikes to school. We have a new parking area for the bikes and students have been doing great with using our new procedures. We have a few resources to share regarding bike safety as well as a link to the required bike safety course students must attend to obtain a parking permit for their bikes.
Online safety course is being developed to support our students safety.
