Mr. Smith's Scoop 🍦
Happy Friday.
This week our PTO launch our Read-a-thon. Currently we have 169 student who have been logging minutes. These students have logged 17,515 minutes so far. Mrs.Hampton’s class is in the lead for the number of minutes read and Miss Bourland’s class is in the lead for the most money raised.
Even if your son or daughter is unable to participate in the fundraising portion of the Read-a-thon we encourage to you register him or her so that reading minutes can be logged.
Practice is how we get better and things and reading more creates stronger readers.
To register your son or daughter, do the following::
1. Go to www.read-a-thon.com/readers
2. Enter code 3254260
3. Create an Account page
4. Track your CUBs reading sessions at home. Teachers started tracking at school, but students must have an account set up.
5. Accumulated minutes will earn your CUBs prizes at school!
Read! Read! Read!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Read-A-Thon
Over 200 accounts have been activated for our Read-A-Thon, and we have over 200 more kiddos to activate. Remember, many prizes are available to our Cubs for reading outside of the fundraiser. They can earn prizes for minutes read regardless of any donations, so get your Cub registered so they can start earning those prizes!
Our Cubs have already logged 11,000 minutes! How amazing is that?!
We can’t wait to see what next week will bring. We are raising money for more shade on the playground, so we’d love your help with that. Send those texts!
Mark your calendars! October 1st is our Parent Social. Join us at Sauce (Camelback and 1st St) from 5:30-7:30PM for dinner and socializing! Get to know other Camelview parents and the admin too! The PTO will provide food and snacks! Please note that this is an Adult event.
#BePresentBePowerful
Daily on-time attendance is important. Last year we had 28% of our students miss more than 18 days of school. This can have a significant impact on student learning, student-learning behaviors and feeling connected to our school community.

Got a Birthday Coming Up? Purchase a Birthday Box!
Our cafeteria can provide birthday boxes at a very low cost. This reduces the impact on classroom learning time (every minute counts), reduces the likelihood of ants in classrooms and creates a fun celebration during lunch times. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tkA7cxvKb4gCb7RDTtE2mxsgSZzxXMui/view?usp=sharing
If you have any questions please contact Valerie, our kitchen manager at vmartinez@madisoned.org!
Uniforms!
As a reminder, we are a uniform school. Our uniforms consist of a navy blue, white or light blue polo shirt and navy or khaki bottoms. Cubs "spirit" wear is an acceptable alternative to the uniform shirt.
Dollar Dress Down PTO Fundraiser Every Friday!
From Nurse Suzanne
We are in need of student uniforms! If your kids have outgrown any of their uniforms from first semester and they are still in good used condition, please consider donating to us! You can leave them in the front office. Thank you!
