Happy December, Cardinal Families!
Can you believe it's already December? I am hoping everyone had a nice Thanksgiving holiday and was able to surround themselves with families, friends, and/or good food.
As we enter the final month of the semester, I want to take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come this school year and encourage all our students to finish strong. December is a pivotal time as students wrap up coursework, prepare for final assignments, and solidify their understanding of the material covered so far.
Since we are a community of online learners, staying motivated during this final stretch can sometimes feel challenging. The flexibility of online learning is a wonderful advantage, but it also requires consistent effort and self-discipline. Maintaining motivation is key to finishing the semester successfully, and we encourage all our students to set goals, stay focused, and celebrate their progress along the way.
Your child’s hard work and focus now will not only help them excel this semester but also set the foundation for success as we enter the spring semester. Before we know it, we’ll be approaching the end of the school year, and one of the key milestones on the horizon is state testing in March.
This testing provides valuable insights into each student’s growth and highlights their hard work and achievements. By prioritizing their studies now, your child will be better prepared to showcase their learning and reach their potential.
To help students stay on track, we offer several resources outside of their weekly teacher meetings:
- Student Success Center: Open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, the center provides one-on-one support for academic needs.
- IXL Math Practice Program: Students can use this interactive program to strengthen their math skills at their own pace.
- Additional Teacher Support: If your child needs extra help, you can request additional time with their teacher.
In addition to academic priorities, we are also working on our WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) self-study and our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) report. These important processes require input from families and students to ensure that we’re meeting our goals and serving our community effectively. Be on the lookout for emails with surveys to complete in the coming weeks. Your feedback is vital in shaping the future of Tracy Charter School, and we deeply value your participation.
Here are a few tips to help your child maintain motivation in the online learning environment:
- Create a daily routine: Consistency can help students stay organized and productive.
- Set short-term goals: Breaking tasks into smaller, manageable pieces can make the workload feel more achievable.
- Take breaks and recharge: Encourage your child to step away from the screen during breaks to refresh their focus.
- Celebrate milestones: Acknowledge their hard work and progress, no matter how small.
Please know that we’re here to support your child every step of the way. If they are feeling unmotivated or overwhelmed, encourage them to take advantage of these resources or reach out to their teachers for guidance. Together, we can help them stay on track and finish this semester strong.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to your child’s education. Wishing you and your family a joyful and successful December!
Sincerely,
Annabelle Lee
