Algebra Enrichment
Final Project
Slope Quilt Pattern
For the final in your child's Algebra Enrichment class, we decided to create a quilt. Each student created his or her own quilt pattern using the four types of slope. Each student also sewed his or her own piece together. The final result of each quilt piece was remarkable!
What does a quilt have to do with math?
The class has been learning about slope, rate of change, and ratios. The pattern your child has created had to display positive slope, negative slope, zero slope, and an undefinded slope. In order to know what each line looked like, the students had to graph the corresponding linear equations.
