All Meetings of the Board of Education are held at Itasca Village Hall, 550 W. Irving Park Road, Itasca, Illinois, at 7:00 P.M. Should the location change, this will be communicated.

This school year, students will learn more about the 8 Keys to Excellence through activities that include reflection and application. We encourage all students to go beyond being "respectful, responsible, and safe" to embody the characteristics of the 8 Keys. More information about each key and its meaning can be found in the link below.

Safe2Help offers students a safe, confidential way in which to share information that might help prevent suicides, bullying, school violence or other threats to school safety. It is available 24/7 and offers students a safe outlet to share information on school safety issues in a confidential environment. It can be accessed via a free app, text/phone, and website (Safe2HelpIllinois.com).

Any parent or community member may recognize any D10 staff member through the nomination link below. Board Salute nominations are reviewed monthly and announced at our Board of Education meetings.

A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Anita DeValk and Ms. Ashley Darling, our Franzen and Peacock Librarians, who applied for and were awarded with grant funding for youth literacy programming for our libraries. They both received board salutes at our October Board Meeting for their excellent work in helping our schools provide the best literacy resources and materials for our students.

Benson's Reading Specialist, Donna Suptela, "Made it a 10!" Ms. Suptela crafted a book walk centered around the book 'Turkey Trouble' by Wendi Silvano.

What is a book walk? Students rotated through 10 stations inside Benson Primary where pages of the book were printed to poster size for staff to read to their classrooms. Additionally, key vocabulary and questions were provided for classroom discussions.

The culminating event was a ballot box where every Benson student got to place their vote for the best turkey disguise. This was our second book walk with plans for future walks in the works!
