Cunningham Connection
Week of March 30th
Dear Cunningham Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and remains in good health. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Favorite Place to Work theme last week. We had many students and staff share photos. It is not too late to upload to this link.
Please share this week's principal message with students. I also included the video at the beginning of this Newsletter. For this coming week, I am asking students to share their favorite books in a creative way. I listed possible ways they can share which includes drawing, writing or dressing up as a character. They are encouraged to write and share with their teachers why it is their favorite book. We will continue to upload to this link. You can also email any picture to cunnpictures@miltonps.org and I can upload them for you. The more creative they can be, the better!
The new Weebly website will continue to be used this week for students. However, many teachers have started utilizing different platforms (SeeSaw, Google Classroom) or video platforms such as Zoom to engage with students. We received more guidance from the State last week and I am working with staff this week to develop, implement or sustain consistent plans for each grade level. This is a process and I appreciate all of the emails of support as we determine the best ways to engage with students while they are learning remotely. Since more information is being finalized from Central Office, I may need to send a midweek email to all families. I know you may be receiving many communications already, so I will only do this if I feel it is necessary.
Reminder, you can always reach out to Cunningham teachers. Here is the link from the Cunningham homepage with the contact information for the Cunningham staff. I encourage you to do this if you ever find yourself confused about the expectations or work students should be doing.
Finally, if your life circumstances become impacted or you are aware of a family that needs support due to Covid19, please reach out to us. There is more information below and you can always reach out to your child's teacher, Ms. Germano, Ms. McKenna or me. We are here to support you during this time.
Ms. Morton will continue to update the Cunningham School's website which now includes a Youtube Channel with Cunningham staff read alouds.
All the Best,
Jon Redden
PS - Staff are actively preparing for the postponed staff game. Enjoy the video at the end of the Newsletter. Next week's theme will be all about being active!
Staff Communication
On Monday, homeroom teachers and staff will communicate assignments for the week. The work will be available from the website below. This is the consistent work that the coordinators have put together for all students by grade level. Some homeroom teachers may also include specific items for just their homeroom classes. Specialist teachers and related service providers may also reach out to you individually as well.

Reminder, Monday, March 30th represents the 7th day of remote learning. We will be working with staff this week to develop consistent, engaging grade-level plans. However, you may have questions even after the new information is communicated. I want to start a continuous Q&A document that will be live for all families to refer to. Please email school-related questions to Ms. Cadigan (ecadigan@miltonps.org). She will arrange them on a Google Document and responses will be viewable to the Cunningham Community. Viewing rights to this document will be linked to the Cunningham Website. If this catches on, I will continue to add to the Q & A document each day.
On Wednesday, we will have a School Site Council meeting starting at 8:30 am over Zoom. Please contact me if you would like the Zoom link to the meeting for Wednesday's meeting.
Please see Madame Morton's French read aloud below!

Family Outreach Liaison
As we all navigate this unfamiliar territory we want families to know that we are committed to being a resource for you. Whether you are unsure of how to connect with school staff or directly need a referral for services or supplies please don’t hesitate to reach out to Marti O’Keefe McKenna, MPS Family Outreach Liaison at 617-980-7343 or by email at mmckenna@miltonps.org. All calls and emails are confidential.
Interface Referral Service:
Milton is fortunate to have partnered with the William James INTERFACE Referral Service. If you need support at this time, please take advantage of this resource.
The William James INTERFACE Referral Service is a mental health and wellness referral Helpline available Monday through Friday, 9 am-5 pm, at 888-244-6843 (toll-free). This is a free, confidential referral service for individuals across the lifespan living in Milton. Callers are matched with licensed mental health providers from our extensive database, on average, within 2 weeks of their call to INTERFACE. Each referral best meets the location, insurance, and specialty needs of the caller.
Special Education
The Office of Pupil Personnel Services has been working in partnership with district leadership and The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to establish engaging and structured activities for our students in special education during this unprecedented school closure. We will continue to provide updates to families as we work with DESE on special education topics.
