School Newsletter - 16th April 2021
Endeavour School April 16, 2021
A Message From Mr Freke
Greetings to you all,
Term 1 one has flown by and as always, we can reflect on a busy and productive term. As we had no interruptions, we were able to really focus on student learning and ensure that quality programmes are running for all students in our school. Thank you to the parents who attended our open afternoons. I hope you left with a better understanding of how Mathematics is being taught at Endeavour and a sense of what your child has been working on this term. Parent/Teacher Learning Conversations are planned for week 3 term 2 so keep an eye out for the booking link next term.
The Beach Party disco was a great success. Thanks to Alicia and the team from Friends of Endeavour for running the night. Thank you also to the teachers who attended and made sure things went smoothly. The students love these nights and the funds raised will go toward Friends of Endeavour projects.
Crazy Hair Day was awesome! The effort that went into some of the hairstyles was amazing. I think it’s important that children learn the importance of giving and supporting charities that make a difference in our community. The Leukaemia and Blood Cancer Society is certainly a great cause.
Thank you also to all the parents who are supporting my message about road safety around Endeavour School. The recent tragedy in Auckland reminds us that accidents do happen and we need to be super careful and follow the rules at busy times around our school.
Term 2 starts Monday 3rd of May. The uniform shop is fully stocked with all our winter uniform items if you need them. Endeavour School has a uniform and the students are required to wear it. Students will be asked to remove non-uniform hoodies or sweatshirts so please double check your winter uniform is good to go.
Winter sports get going next term and it is great to see such large numbers of students getting involved. All the great players started by running out for school or club teams. Speaking of which: go the Chiefs.
I hope everyone has a restful term break and come ready for another busy term of learning.
Marcus Freke
Principal

A Change to Lunch Orders
They have stated that "Our team has concluded that in order to successfully continue our service at your school we will need to limit the days of deliveries to Wednesdays and Fridays. We are planning for this change to take effect starting Term 2".
This means that orders will only be able to be placed on Wednesday's and Friday's from the beginning of term two. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to those who regularly order. If you would like to contact the Lunch Orders team they can be reached on the following email : lunchorders@libelle.co.nz.
Senior Camp
In Term Four 2021 our Year 5 and 6 students will be going on School Camp to Lakewood Lodge as part of our Education Outside The Classroom Programme (EOTC). Lakewood Lodge is an amazing, well-resourced camp, located in Glen Murray, just outside of Huntly. It is an adventure farm camp with a wide range of activities to suit and appeal to many different tastes.
We are currently fundraising so that all our Year 5 & 6 students at Endeavour School can participate in this camp. We are relying solely on donations to fund this.
Our students ran an Easter Raffle and this was a huge success, thank you to all those families who donated eggs and purchased tickets. We raised a whopping $7,743.75 and there were 12 gift baskets which were won by our lucky participants.
We are now moving on to our second phase of fundraising for next term and would like to ask for some community support. If you run a business and would like to give a corporate donation towards this camp please contact Jo on Jo@endeavour.school.nz. We would certainly ensure that your business got plenty of coverage via our newsletter and Facebook pages which reach over 500 views a fortnight/post.
There is also an option on our School Shop where anyone can hop on and donate towards another child’s camp. Thank you so much for those families who have already donated, your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Beach Party Disco!
A huge thanks to all the teachers who supported the event & danced the evening away with all the students. Special shout out to our MCs Ms Eivers & Mrs Shearer plus our awesome DJ Mr Trotter. They definitely added to the atmosphere of the evening.
Lots of thanks also to all the parent helpers who supported the event from planning & the smooth running on the day. It's the parent support that makes our events as successful as they are. If you know you can add value to our next event & would love to support the FOE PTA, be sure to contact us & be added to our helper list - friendsofendeavour@endeavour.school.nz
Crazy Hair Day!
Our students were encouraged to come to school with wild and crazy hairstyles, and they didn't disappoint! See all the pictures from the day by clicking the button below.
Students were also asked to bring along a gold coin donation and together we raised $643.80!
A big THANK YOU and well done to our school community for getting behind this event to support the NZ Leukaemia and Blood Cancer Foundation.
