Reynolds' Report
Hello Roadrunner Families!
It feels like it was just August and I was writing my welcome back email. Where did the time go? It was truly an honor to watch your students grow and learn this year. We hope you will take full advantage of the last few events of the school year!
Our last week of school will be an early release week, with the dismissal bell ringing at 1:40pm. Please be sure to make arrangements for your student at 1:40. The last day of school is Thursday, June 5th. This is different than last year!
Monday, the 2nd, is our last PTO meeting of the year. This one is important, because our PTO President is retiring and we will need a solid plan to start the year off strong. Please consider joining us! We'll even feed you a light dinner!
Tuesday, June 3rd is the First Street Night at the Ballpark! Come enjoy a ball game and celebrate our students! One of our very own students will be throwing out the first pitch!
Thursday, June 5th, on our last day of school, we will be celebrating our 5th graders with a clap out celebration. Parents, students, and teachers will line the walkway from the 5th grade classrooms to the gate to applaud out students as they head out into the world. Families are welcome to join us at 1:20pm to be ready for our 1:40pm dismissal! We can't wait to celebrate your student together!
Our next newsletter will release on August 1st, 2025 to prepare our families for the new school year. It has been a pleasure to have your student as a part of our Roadrunner family this year. We can't wait to hear about all of your summer adventures when you return in the fall!
Have a wonderful week and a beautiful summer, Roadrunners!

Meet Mr. Johnson
Mr. Johnson will be joining our team as our 5th Grade GATE teacher! Hear about him in his words below!
My name is Mike Johnson, and I’m excited to be joining the First Street School community as the 5th grade GATE teacher next year. I was born and raised in Pasadena, California, and I’m looking forward to making the move to Lincoln and becoming part of this wonderful community. With over 25 years of experience designing engaging, differentiated learning experiences, I’m passionate about helping students think deeply, ask bold questions, and grow as independent learners. I can’t wait to partner with families and staff to support our gifted learners and make next year a memorable one!
Why did you decide to work in education?
I got into education because I genuinely enjoy helping all students grow. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a student develop confidence and pride in their learning.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
I love coming up with creative and engaging lessons that bring learning to life and keep students curious.
What was your favorite part about being in elementary school?
The excitement and love of learning! I’ve always appreciated how elementary students bring so much energy, wonder, and joy to the classroom.
What is your favorite color?
I don’t really have a favorite color. I do appreciate color theory though.
What is your favorite food?
Tacos. They're versatile, flavorful, and always a crowd-pleaser.
What is your favorite pet?
Dogs. Loyal, goofy, and full of heart.
Meet Ms. Costa
Ms. Costa will be joining us as our 4th grade teacher! Hear about her in her words below!
Why did you decide to work in education?
I decided to work in education because I loved elementary school. I have so many fond memories from my teachers, I learned so many valuable lessons from my teachers, and I wanted to give back to the children of today.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
I love when the kids seek me out for support in something. A student this year often comes to me for support with her learning and her friends and I am honored every time. She’ll say “I know you can help me with this” which is how I hope every child sees me.
What was your favorite part about being in elementary school?
My favorite part of elementary school was learning through experience. I had a teacher take my class on the most immersive field trips that I still think about. Those opportunities to have hands-on learning stick with you. She built our independence by having us apply for jobs that we would have on the trips. Having something that I knew I was responsible for made me feel important and valued!
What is your favorite color?
This changes allll the time. I’m really loving all shades of purple these days
What is your favorite food?
Goldfish OR apples and peanut butter
What is your favorite pet?
I love dogs. I am hoping I can get one soon, they are such a good companion!

I decided to work in education because I discovered that I am the happiest when I am helping other people. As a teacher, I get to be helpful to students, their families, and the staff at the school all the time.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
My favorite thing about career as a teacher is that I get to support children when they set challenging goals and I get to watch them meet and exceed those goals.

Supply Donations
It is already time to start thinking about next year and the wonderful things we will do with our students in the 2025-2026 school year. Each year, we strive to ensure that all students have their school supplies provided to them by the school. This is part of our AVID organizational goal, as well as part of our culture of abundance on campus.
Due to budget cuts this upcoming year, we are turning to our community to ensure that our tradition of providing students with their school supplies can remain strong.
Below, is an Amazon link, with the items that we typically use throughout the school year. We are asking you to pass this link along to anyone who might be interested in making a donation of school supplies to our school. Items ordered from our Amazon wish list will deliver directly to our school for use in the 2025-2026 school year!
