Dragon Festival
The 2024 PTA Dragon Festival is almost upon us, and I want to acknowledge our amazing team for the tremendous time and energy they have put into making it a reality.
Celebrations such as this are a unique way for all children to come together and learn about the various cultures that contribute to the richness and diversity of our country, not to mention a great opportunity for fun, spectacle and great food!
This is one not to be missed, so I hope you can find time to join us for this community day, with thanks once again to all our PTA organisers.
Cross-country
Well done once again to all of our cross-country participants, who have had a chance to work towards the various challenges with a sense of accomplishment on crossing the finish line!
Thanks to all our teachers and our Sports Coordinator, Karen, for organising and preparing the children for these events, with congratulations to all the exceptional runners who have qualified for the Zones competition next week.
School Hall Repairs Update
As is often the case with these kind of projects, repairs to the hall floor are progressing slower than planned following the removal of asbestos, checks on the sub-floor structural elements and complications sourcing matching boards of the correct quality and dimensions. Progress is being made, however, and we expect the work to be completed in the next few weeks at this stage.
New MENPS Waiata
Once the hall is fully functional again, hopefully you may have a chance to hear a brand new song the children will be learning at some point in the near future. The original tune has been written specially for our school by celebrated Ngati Whatua artist (and NZ Music Award winner) Majic Pāora, who has woven a sense of our special place, gifting us our very own Mt Eden Normal Primary waiata.
We're lucky to have such celebrated local talent lend her time and talent to this project, so - by way of showing our appreciation - please see below for a link to her upcoming family-friendly Matariki performance on June 27!

Did you know the MENPS students use Sports Gear from the Yummy Apples collection everyday? The Yummy Apple Sports gear is used in PE lessons and can be picked up by students from the PE Shed during lunch times! Collect stickers from Yummy Apples and stick them to the Yummy Apple collection sheets or cut out labels (or bar codes) from Yummy Apple bags and glue them on a blank sheet of paper. Completed sheets can be dropped back to your class teacher or the office at any time. Thank you for collecting MENPS!
