THINGS TO KNOW AND DO
Yearbook Distribution
Thursday, May 30th: 8th Graders who have pre-purchased a yearbook (after attendance is taken, in PE period, at Financial Office window) – bring your “All Clear” slip that was given to you by Librarian at textbook return event
Tuesday, June 4th: 7th Graders who have pre-purchased a yearbook (after attendance is taken, in PE period, at Financial Office window) – bring your “All Clear” slip that was given to you by Librarian at textbook return event
Tuesday, June 4th: 6th Graders who have pre-purchased a yearbook (distribution will take place at 6th grade End-Of-Year Party/Celebration. If student is ineligible to attend End-of-Year Party, they may pick up their pre-purchased yearbook at the Financial Office after school on 6/5/24.
Students MUST have cleared all school fines and returned school issued instructional materials. Students who have not “Cleared” the above, can pick their pre-purchased yearbook up from Financial Office after school on 6/06/24.

Textbook Return Information
I’m sending out a heads up that from May 28th until May 31st students will be returning their textbooks. Before turning in the textbooks could you please wipe with a damp cloth the front, back and spine of the books.
Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 will be 8TH GRADE.
Thursday, May 30th, 2024 will be 7TH GRADE.
Friday, May 31st, 2024 will be 6TH GRADE.
A reminder email for each grade level will go out the day before that grade returns their textbooks.
IF THE STUDENT IS STAYING IN THE DISTRICT, THEY KEEP THEIR COMPUTER.

For this year’s last Student Spotlight we are highlighting 3 amazing 8th graders, asking them to reflect on their time at Lewis.
8th graders, we will miss you at Lewis and we know you will do amazing things in high school and beyond!
8th Logan Jenson
Logan enjoys seeing Ms. Martinez everyday.
We have really great teachers at Lewis that make coming to school something students look forward to!
8th Madalyn Stevenson
Madalyn’s favorite memory at Lewis was attending the East Coast trip. She told us it was super fun and she was happy to hang out with her friends on the trip. She especially enjoyed exploring New York and walking around Times Square as it was her first time there.
8th Caylie Ferreria
Caylie’s favorite part of Lewis middle school was making new friends and memories. Caylie really enjoyed P.E. class and hanging out, playing games with her friends during P.E.

Art Walk Submission Pickup Info
Hi Leopards!
ASB would like to remind the artists who participated in the Art Walk to come pick up their art from Room 308 during advisory or 5th period. Please remember to come pick up, they will not be available for pick up when the school year ends and next year. We would hate for all you’re amazing art to be lost! If you need a pass, contact an ASB member and we can deliver a pass to you.

End of Year Activity Participation Policy
8thGrade Promotion Ceremony and End of Year Activity Participation Policy:
Students will be ineligible in Lewis Promotion/Activities for any of the following reasons. Final eligibility will be determined on May 28, 2024. Saturday School may be used to clear attendance and tardies;however absences due to suspension cannot be cleared.
● One or More U’s in Citizenship
● 3 or more suspensions in school or formal combined in the 2023-2024 school year
● 1 or more suspensions during the last grading period
● 10 or more unexcused Tardies combined (T=unexcused tardy, W=Tardy or Leave unexcused more than 30 minutes.
● 10 or more days of unexcused absences or truancy combined. (U=unexcused, Z=truant)
*Students who meet citizenship, and suspension criteria but do not meet attendance requirements may participate in the promotion ceremony but will not participate in 8th grade activities (ie. Bowling and the dance)
6th and 7thth Grade End of Year Activity Participation Policy:

Please check your child’s Power School regularly. The final Saturday School’s for this year are May 4 and May 11. Each Saturday School clears 1 full day +4 tardies.
If you have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher for the course, and/or your child’s school counselor to assist with calculating eligibility.
From Youth Advocacy Office:
Lewis is a welcoming place for our LGBTQIA+ students. If you would like a gender support plan meeting with your counselor to discuss which restroom and locker room to use, which name and pronouns you’d like used at school, and to find out about additional support at school, please let your counselor know. Lewis has a gender inclusive changing area and a gender inclusive restroom for students that do not feel comfortable in a gendered space.
