Back to School Bash:

Please make plans to attend the annual PTC Back To School Bash on Thursday, September 12th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

Come join fellow Oakdale families and staff for a night of inflatables, face painting, dunk tank, food trucks, and pie-in-the-face fun!

Volunteers are needed to make this event run smoothly. Volunteer slots are a brief 30 minutes, ensuring everyone still has plenty of time to enjoy the evening activities.

Calm Waters:

The registration for Calm Waters has been extended until Wednesday, September 4th. Please fill out this registration form. Calm Waters is a free student support group to help students who have had any significant life changes. Examples include, but are not limited to, death, divorce, adoption, foster care, deployment, and incarceration. The sessions are held once a week, for nine weeks, during lunch. We are going to be a digital ticketing school this year. You will be able to purchase tickets on our school website 48 hours before an athletic event. If you forget, no problem! We will have QR codes to scan and purchase tickets at the door of each event. Be on the lookout for my information to be sent out next week. Go Rockets!

Reminder: All medication at school needs to be kept in the office with a completed Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form (AAMF). The exceptions for medications: asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, and pancreatic enzymes may be carried by the student with a completed Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form filed in the nurse's office.

From the Oakdale Student Handbook:

An Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form (AAMF) must be completed and returned to the school before medication can be administered by school personnel. The only medications students are allowed to carry and self-administer during school or school activities are asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes and replacement pancreatic enzymes, and a completed AAMF form is required.

Everyone seems excited about the long weekend! Your kids have been awesome! We have a lot of new students /families this year and we are grateful to get to know each one of them! We have started guidance classes and we are focusing on coping skills. Students are learning how to identify their feelings and ways to cope in certain situations.

Don't forget the AMAZING opportunity for your child to attend the Calm Waters group. This is an opportunity for your child to work through grief or loss of any kind, family changes, divorce, etc. Students will NOT miss class time. Enrollment continues this week. We had a wonderful two weeks back in the Middle School Library. In ELA classes, students were reminded of the library policies and procedures, such as how to browse the shelves respectfully and efficiently, check-out books on their own, and reading expectations. Another policy students were reminded of is that young adult books (labeled with YA on the front cover) are only to be checked out by 7th and 8th graders. At the end of the lesson, students were able to check out their first book of the year!

Next up for the library is the BOOK FAIR! Students will preview the book fair with their ELA classes on Thursday and Friday of next week. The book fair is open for business September 9-13 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

RIVERSPORT is excited to offer a limited time 50% off fall membership discount for all Oakdale Middle School students interested in joining the RIVERSPORT middle school rowing fall program! Now is the time to start collecting and sending your child's pictures for their 8th grade yearbook page. Each 8th grader will get their own page in the yearbook. They will make their page in class for a grade. Please collect pictures and send them to yearbook@oakdale.org as soon as possible.
