Over the next several weeks, be watching this section for features on our Falcon Zone finalists! Each of these awesome educators have been selected as National Finalists for the National Modern Learning Conference, taking place this coming February. As a finalist, they had to submit a 2-minute video summarizing all that they do to impact teaching and learning in their classrooms and schools.
This week, we feature Lyndsie Zinicola, a 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Falcon Middle School, and Shawn Healy, Instructional Coach at Bennett Ranch Elementary.
Ms. Zinicola's classroom is a hub for modern personalized learning. She connects with her students positively, building strong relationships, and allows students to have ownership in how things will operate in the classroom. Her lessons are designed to incorporate real world problem solving and applications to help students develop critical thinking skills. Ms. Zinicola is a finalist for the 6th through 8th Grade Personalized Learning Classroom of the Year!
At Bennett Ranch, Mr. Healy works to support teachers and instructional staff with resources and time to elevate their professional practice. He models various instructional strategies to help demonstrate research based practices while providing practical examples for implementation. Mr. Healy networks with both his staff members and other instructional coaches around the zone to ensure collaboration is at the forefront as we enhance instruction for our students. Mr. Healy is a finalist for the Change Agent Instructional Coach of the Year!
We wish both of them the best as finalists during the Modern Learning Conference next month!
Let's take a step inside Ms. Zinicola's Classroom and see Mr. Healy's coaching style in action...

3rd Quarter Falcon Zone SAC
The 3rd Quarter Falcon Zone SAC meeting is scheduled for February 6th at Falcon Elementary School.
Save the Date - Falcon Fest
Bring in your gently used or new shoes and help fundraise for the Falcon Zone Community Closet and Pantry!
Shoes will be donated to Funds2Orgs and we will get paid to collect gently worn, used and new shoes in a creative, community-friendly fundraiser!
What happens to the shoes?
A shoe drive fundraiser goes beyond raising money for your cause and community. After your shoes are picked up, they’re sent to developing countries to create job opportunities.
It’s estimated 300 million people don’t own shoes. Shoe drive fundraisers help provide inventory to over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the shoes to support their families. In turn, they help themselves out of poverty with a hand up, not a handout.
Drop Boxes will be located at all 6 Falcon Zone schools, JAKs Brewing, The State Bank and the D49 Transportation Center.
One Zone, One Book - The Wild Robot
Last week, our entire elementary school community is kicked off a beloved tradition: our annual all-school book club, One Zone, One Book!
This week families should read Chapters 27-40.
Check out the One Zone One Book website for Chapter Audio recordings and book

Shahnee Fults (FESoT) - Shahnee has been a SPED para in my classroom since the beginning of the year. She has really worked to get to know the students that she works with and has formed strong relationships with all of the students in my classroom. Shahnee is very supportive and knows what the students receiving support need and how to motivate them. Her assistance in my classroom has made my job much easier. I am so thankful for Shahnee and all that she does for me and my students!
Bridgitte Martin (FZ) - Bridgitte has a calming and positive attitude and is such a great resource to special education staff...... especially when tackling difficult situations. In meetings with parents she always keeps her cool when emotions are high and is kind and professional. I am grateful to have her support and leadership.
