Student parking is located to the back and athletic lots on the east and south sides of the building, and the lot by the baseball field.
Students may park in the WHITE painted stalls. YELLOW painted stalls are for STAFF ONLY.
Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity to purchase a permit at this time. To accommodate as many drivers as possible, and to alleviate neighborhood congestion, students CANNOT purchase a permit unless they have obtained their driver’s license.
Parking Permit Purchase Process:
Beginning July 22nd, students must complete all student parking application and contracts.
Students must provide their driver’s license number, insurance information, license plate number, and make/model/year/color of the vehicle(s) the student will drive to CVHS on the contract. (Note- we ask all families to provide information on a minimum of two vehicles the student may drive to school to assist in reducing incorrect tickets.)
Permits will not be distributed until the payment has been received. Families pay all parking fines/fees HERE IN MySchoolBucks.
Students with any fines or fees, including from the current school year, ARE NOT eligible to purchase a permit, until all fees have been paid.
The cost of a permit is $50. If purchased in the second semester, the cost is $25.
Families may arrange payment plans through the Bookkeeper on a case-by-case basis, with the approval of Mr. Ross, Dean of Students.
Purchase/Distribution of Parking Permits:
Students who have been approved through the application process and have paid for their permit on MySchoolBucks may pick up their Parking Permit on August 6 at In Person Check In.
Applications take at least 24 hours to process.
Students must present a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance in order to receive their permit.
Any failure to complete or provide any of the items listed above will delay the permit process.
Questions about parking passes? Contact Zac Ross, Dean of Students (zross1@dcsdk12.org)
**Sophomores will not be allowed to purchase a parking pass until the start of the spring semester. Once students have their license, they can complete the application process.
DCSD and CVHS Bring Your Own Device Expectations
In order for your students to fully participate in the learning environment, they will need to bring a minimum of one Chromebook-level device daily.
What is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy?
DCSD's student technology BYOD policy allows students to bring and use their personal laptops at school and home. To support classroom or online learning, the device must be able to connect to the school's wireless network. Students will use their devices in the classroom to access and save information from the Internet, collaborate with other students, and use the productivity tools, such as Canvas or Google Calendar, that are available to them.
Which devices are appropriate for BYOD?
Minimum Google Chrome or Firefox browser (Please note that Google Chrome syncs best with Canvas, the District's web-based learning management system.)
“WPA2 Enterprise” wireless card support (wireless security) 802.11n or higher
Netbooks, tablets, or iPads are not recommended for classroom use.
Wireless must be dual-band 802.11n/ac/ax (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) for best performance
Battery life should be greater than 6 hours of continuous use - the longer the battery life, the better
You can view more about preferred devices HERE.
Family Request for Long-Term School-Owned Device Checkout
In the event that a family faces financial hardship and cannot provide a student with a device to access the learning environment, CVHS has a small number of school-owned Chromebooks reserved to ensure that all students can access their learning.
If your family cannot provide your student with a device due to extreme financial hardship, please fill out THIS REQUEST FORM. School staff will review requests to ensure they meet appropriate need criteria. If school staff approves the request, your family will receive an email from CVHS Technology Specialist Vivian Harvey to set up a time on the first day of school for your student to pick up a school-owned Chromebook. If school staff does NOT approve your request, you will receive communication from CVHS administration.
SENIORS ONLY! Important Graduation Competency Information
In compliance with Colorado state law, all seniors intending to graduate in May 2025 must demonstrate competency in both English Language Arts and Math through one of these DCSD-identified measures. Students can demonstrate competency in ELA using a different measure than they use for math, so a student may demonstrate ELA competency by obtaining a 470 on the Language Arts score of the SAT while she demonstrates Math competency by earning a 2 or better on the AP Statistics exam.
CV will work to ensure that each and every student demonstrates competency through one of the available means by the end of their first semester of senior year.
In the first weeks of school, senior counselors and administration will work with individual senior students who have not, yet, demonstrated competency in one or both areas to create a personal plan for achieving this essential graduation requirement. ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCY will be signed up for either the SAT, ASVAB, or ACT WorkKeys on October 11th, CV's Fall Assessment Day. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mandy Malson, School Assessment Coordinator, at amanda.malson@dcsdk12.org.
JUNIORS ONLY! Important Fall PSAT/NMSQT Information
This year, all juniors at CVHS will be automatically enrolled to take the PSAT/NMSQT, the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, on October 11th, CV's Fall Assessment Day. Junior students will see an $18 fee assessed in MySchoolBucks for this exam by September 1, 2024.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS WHO DO NOT WISH THEIR STUDENTS TO TAKE THE EXAM MUST USE THIS FORM TO OPT OUT OF THE EXAM. Opt-outs must be received by August 26th or students will receive the fee.
