Common Application: Deadlines Vary
Use your personal email address to create your Common App account. Start entering your personal information & WHS details (class size: 433; recommendation letter steps; testing requirements). Check the College Information tab to review deadlines and requirements.
Here's a sample Courses & Grades section that shows you how to enter WHS classes.
Direct Admissions: Based on the data you've entered on your Common App (e.g., GPA), you can receive offers of admission.

12/5/24 Tutorial: Peninsula College Fund Prsenetation
First-generation college students with financial need should stop by C-6 during tutorial to learn more about this $12,000 scholarship with mentoring. Check this chart to see if your family's income qualifies you for this scholarship.
CA College Corps: Earn $10,000/yr
Consider applying to these CA community, CSU, and UC campuses if you would like to earn up to $10,000 per year to help with the cost of attendance.
Why Should I Start @ Californiacolleges.edu?
Community college courses, 12th grade second semester, and courses taken at other high schools need to be added manually.
The Fall 2025 application is open for the San Mateo Community College District.

Financial Aid & Scholarships
Financial Aid Applications & Workshops: 1/15/25 & 2/5/25
The 2025-2026 CADAA and FAFSA are open. Here is the presentation we shared with seniors about the financial aid process. Use your personal email address to create accounts and complete these applications. Students eligible to use the FAFSA should create their FSA ID with their personal email address first and then help their parent(s) create their FSA ID.
CSS Profile: Some private schools use this application. Check the college's financial aid page for the most current information. The 2025-2026 application is open now. Early Action/Decision applicants may need to complete their CSS Profile within the next few weeks.

$1,000 Awards: Application Due 12/11/24
Visual and performing artists can submit their work for consideration by 12/11/24.
Burger King Scholarship Due By 12/16/24
BURGER KING® General High School Senior Track - Available to all high school seniors who meet the criteria below.
- Be living in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada
- Be graduating high school seniors (U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada
- Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent
- Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2025-26 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school or CEGEP or equivalent in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada

Leadership Scholarships
GE-Reagan Scholarships: Due 01/03/25
The GE-Reagan Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors with: US citizenship; financial need; plans to attend a 4-year university in the US; and "attributes of leadership, integrity, drive, and citizenship within their communities, schools, and workplaces."
Bay Area All-Stars Nomination Form Due 01/07/25
Four WHS seniors can be nominated for this $5,000 scholarship. Submit your application by 01/07/25 for consideration if you meet the following criteria: 3.0+ GPA; have demonstrated leadership in the classroom, good work ethic, community involvement, & dedication to education. Applicants must have plans to attend college and be a legal resident.
Local & National Scholarships Due Next Semester
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Due 01/09/25
This 4-year scholarship provides financial and comprehensive support services to motivated minority students with US citizenship, financial need, and plans to attend a 4-year college in the US.
Penguin Random House Creative Awards: Due 01/15/25 or Receipt of 1000 Apps
High school seniors who plan to enroll in a 2-year, 4-year, or vocational school in Fall 2025 are eligible to submit an original literary composition for a $10,000 scholarship.
Jobs for Youth Al Teglia Scholarship Due 01/29/25
20 youth will be selected for a scholarship of $2,000 each. Scholars are selected based on financial and personal need, and through demonstrating a clear desire to succeed. The program is open to Jobs for Youth Members* ages 16-21 who reside in San Mateo County. Applicants must be at least a junior in high school and have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. The Al Teglia Scholarship program can help you on your journey toward earning an Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or vocational training certificate. You will be honored at our annual Scholarship Celebration in May, and you will be featured on our website and in our other communications.
*Students must have attended a JFY workshop and registered themselves during that sessions.
Asian Pacific Islander 1st Generation Scholarship: Due 01/09/25
1st generation APIA college students with a 2.7+ GPA and US residency or citizenship are eligible to apply to the APIA Scholars program by 01/15/25.
Tri Counties Scholarships: Due 03/12/25
Scholarships totaling $110,000 will be awarded to students attending community colleges, trade schools, and/or four-year colleges/universities.
Tri Counties Bank offers (2) types of community scholarships:
- Income-based – Sixty (60) $1,500 scholarships are awarded to students with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 0 or less, and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Merit-based – Twenty (20) $1,000 scholarships are offered to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Applications are due by March 12, 2025.
Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate interest in public service, community engagement and business entrepreneurship.
10,000 Degrees Scholarship Due 03/02/25
No GPA requirement!
10,000 Degrees scholarship recipients may receive support from our trained Fellows, who provide ongoing mentorship both on campus and off during the entire college journey. After graduation, our Career and Alumni Success Team provides career mentorship, guidance, internship opportunities, networking events, and more.
McDonalds HACER Scholarship for Latino Students Due 2/13/25
Check out the requirements below to find out if the McDonald’s® HACER® National Scholarship is right for you:
- You’re a high school senior
- Must be a legal U.S. Resident, U.S. Citizen or a DREAMER/DACA recipient
- You’re under 21 years old
- You carry a minimum 2.8 GPA
- You’re eligible to attend a two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school with a full-time course of study
- You’ll disclose other scholarship programs that you’ve applied for
- You’ll enroll and attend an accredited institution in the academic year after your selection (verification needed, as scholarship funds are paid directly to the schools)
- You have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage
Scholarships for Scholar-Athletes
CCS Scholarships
Scholar-Athlete: Seniors who have played a varsity sport for at least 2 seasons and have a 3.5+ GPA are eligible to apply for this scholarship ($500-$1,500). The completed application packet must be submitted to Mr. Faulkner by 1/21/25.
Joyce Ridgway: $750 scholarship to female athlete with: 3.0+ GPA; completed at least 6 seasons of a sport (2 seasons at varsity level); demonstrated leadership, integrity, and self-sacrifice for teammates & school athletic programs. Complete application must be emailed to msanchez@cifccs.org by 03/10/25.
Jeff Lamb: Senior athlete with aspirations to become a teacher/coach and athletic director. Complete application must be emailed to msanchez@cifccs.org by 03/10/25.
NROTC Full Tuition Scholarship+Monthly Allowances
Seniors intereted in attending a participating NROTC college or university can apply for up to $180,000 in scholarship money if they can pass the physical fitness test, satisfy minimum requirements, and have the following minimum scores: ACT - 22 or SAT - 1000; ASVAB - 74.
Elks Scholarships
Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities
CA high school seniors who meet the eligiblity requirements of this Elks scholarship can receive up to $2,000 to support their plans to attend post-secondary education (2-year, 4-year, vocational) by mailing their application before 03/15/2025.
Vocational Grant
Students enrolling in a vocational program can receive up to $2,000 for up to 2 years. Applicants must be US citizens. Sponsoring lodge is Redwood City Lodge #1991.
Children or Grandchildren of Current Elks Members: Due 02/03/25
Seniors, if you are the child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2022, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2022, you can apply for a $4,000 Elks Legacy scholarship. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2025.
