THANK YOU
Thank You for Making Our First Annual Fall into Action Workday a Success!
A heartfelt thank you to Nikki, Erin, and Emma for organizing our first Fall into Action Workday and Potluck, and to all the families who joined us! The turnout, teamwork, and community spirit made for a productive and memorable day.
We rely on our amazing volunteers to help create a rich, nurturing school environment. With limited resources, volunteers make a huge difference, enabling us to enhance spaces, complete projects, and build a strong sense of community that supports learning in so many ways. Your time and efforts help transform our shared vision into reality, bringing projects to life that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
Here’s an update on what was accomplished together:
- Swing Sets: Volunteers dug post holes, built concrete frames, and assembled the swing set. Once the concrete is poured and set, the frame will be fully secure and ready for use!
- Landscaping: Families worked hard to transplant perennials around the school signs, clear out Betty’s Woods, and move logs, stumps, and boulders for playground use. Betty’s Woods is now safe for play and fort building.
- Garden Area and Soil Work: New soil was placed near the Bearcub’s garden. If you have a few moments during pickup or drop-off, feel free to help fill in trenches and level the ground. Rakes are located in the greenhouse—every little bit makes a difference!
- Front Forest Area: The front forest’s northeast section is now ready for small group lessons. Salvaged stumps and logs have been arranged for a natural seating area.
- Library: Our library is getting organized! A team cut bookshelves and organized books by category. Once the shelves are anchored, they’ll be ready to go—each book box is neatly labeled by author or genre. Woo hoo!
- Murals: With help from Emma, Anne, and our young artists, most of the bottle cap murals are now complete and ready for installation. Final steps will be guided by Anne in the coming days.
- Margaret’s Ojibwemowin Office: Freshly painted and ready for use!
We’re so grateful to everyone who pitched in—many hands truly make light work! Volunteers are already asking about coming back for more projects, so keep an eye out for future opportunities. And if you have any ideas, like building a snow berm for sledding or creating new playground features, we’d love to hear them!
Thank you for your time, energy, and for helping make our school a welcoming place for all!
The Beavers (1/2) enjoyed a trek to a local Beaver lodge.
