Holiday Food Drive
Dear Folsom Parents,
It is once again that time of year for Folsom School’s Annual Food Drive, coordinated with the assistance of Folsom’s Student Council. All food collected will be organized and placed into baskets for community families in need this holiday season. The Folsom School Food Drive has helped a number of families throughout the past several years, and we are hoping to continue that tradition this year.
Please use the chart below to have your child bring in the appropriate donation food item. Students may begin to bring in food items on Monday, November 11, 2024. All food items must be in by Monday, December 9, 2024. We hope to make this year’s Food Drive another great success!
If you or someone you know is interested in donating a turkey, a gift card or a monetary donation, or you know someone in need of a holiday basket; please contact Carlie Grouser, Folsom School Social Worker at (609) 561-8666 ext. 171.
Thank you for your continued support and Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Carlie Grouser, School Social Worker
Giving Tree
Folsom Elementary School is preparing for the holiday season with our seventh annual community “Giving Tree.” The Folsom “Giving Tree” is a community service project, which allows our students to understand the importance of giving back to our community. These are challenging times as some of our students come from families affected by financial hardships.
A list of items needed for purchase/donation will be available virtually after November 1, 2024. If you would like to contribute, please email Ms. Amorelli at DAmorelli@folsomschool.org to sign up to purchase/donate items.
If preferred, you are welcome to make a monetary donation by check. Please make the check payable to Folsom School Activity Fund. Please include "Giving Tree" in the notes section. All items purchased and all monetary donations benefit our Folsom community directly.

Pajama Day
Congratulations to our 2nd Grade class on collecting 111 Pajama's that will be donated to the Pajama Project.
Ronald McDonald Tab Program
Falcon Club will be sponsoring our annual can tab collection to support Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House is a charity organization that helps families with sick or injured children in need. Students are encouraged to bring in any can tabs they have throughout the school year to be collected in homeroom. Cut off for tab collection will be due by 5/15/2025. The homeroom with the most tabs collected throughout the year at that time will be eligible to earn a Ronald McDonald happy meal party at the end of the school year!
Any questions? Please contact Mrs. Cocco at 609-561-8666 ext 172.

Movie Etiquette: Parents, please go over these basic etiquette guidelines with your child(ren). It is our hope that by following these guidelines, everyone’s movie-going experience will be a good one.
1. We do not talk during the movie.
2. Refrain from getting up and down. People behind us are trying to watch the movie and too many trips to the bathroom, drinking fountain, etc is distracting and unnecessary.
3. Running will not be tolerated. Children are asked to come into the cafeteria, select an area to sit and visit quietly until the movie begins. Tonight the cafeteria is a movie theater NOT a cafeteria.
4. Enjoy and have fun!
TAG 5th & 6th Grade Service Project
Classroom Highlights
To go along with the story "Crazy Pizza Day," our little chefs in the PreK Cafe followed a recipe to make their own pizzas!
This morning, Mrs. Weldon's Breakfast Bunch played Simon Says with Mrs. Barone.
1st grade TAG has been doing hands on building projects based from books we have read in class. Today’s book was “Robot Man” and the students used LEGO to build their interpretation of a robot that could help with chores around the house!
Our 7th and 8th grade TAG students participated today at St. Augustine Prep’s annual Quiz Bowl. Both teams had a good showing amongst many area schools.
The Collings Lakes Fire Department visited the Folsom School. Our Falcons were able to get up close and personal with a real fire truck!
7th Grade students completed an onion lab in Ms. DeRosa's Science class.
Free write Friday! Students in 3W had the opportunity to choose a topic from the many ways they learned writers get their ideas and write around the room.
In PreK4 we started our “letter of the week” and learned all about the letter A, the sounds it makes, things that start with A and of course, apples! We opened the cooking center and learned how to cut our own fruit for an apple tasting. We practiced making recipes before we created our real “apple pie in a cup” and rounded out our week with our Apple Farm field trip.
Second grade students learned all about Johnny Appleseed! Also they learned to be hardworking, kind, and generous just like him.
Our youngest Falcons celebrated all things apple in preparation for our Duffield's apple picking trip! The students enjoyed apple themed activities at their centers. The little chefs were at it again and this week they cooked up Apple Pie in Cups!
