October 2024 Newsletter
Happy Fall!!!
We want our kids and families safe when traveling through our parking lot. By abiding by the following rules, students can safely arrive and leave school each day:
* Please drive 5 mph or less
* Look all directions while driving to make sure that there are no people in the driving path
* Stay off of your cell phone or anything else that may distract you
* Follow the correct traffic flow (enter and exit the parking lot at the pool roundabout)
Everyday Counts! Students who have low rate of absences are more likely to graduate high school, perform at grade level, and make a year or more of growth. Please help us to make sure that your student is at school each day unless they are ill. Our attendance rate for the month of September was 91.41%, which is 1.07% lower than September of last year. Our goal is to reach 95% as a school for each month of the year!
If at any point your family needs any support, please reach out to our office and let us know how we can help.

Bully-Prevention
Hello Winona Families,
This month is National Bully Prevention Month. Our school counseling class lessons with Mrs. Crossland will be focused on helping our school be a safe and respectful place.
In the lessons, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying.
Students will learn how to:
• Recognize when bullying is happening
• Report bullying to a caring adult
• Refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others
• Be a bystander who stands up and is part of the solution to bullying
Make sure your child knows to tell you or someone at school if he or she is being bullied. And give your child the clear message that it is never okay to bully others. If you have any questions about how to support your child you can reach out to a member of our support team at Winona!

A standards-based grading (SBG) scale of 1–4 is used in Thompson School District to assess a student's progress toward mastering a skill or standard:
- 1: The student has little understanding of the concept
- 2: The student demonstrates partial mastery
- 3: The student meets the target
- 4: The student exceeds the target
Please ask your student's teacher if you have any questions about scores that you see your student receiving on Infinite Campus.
