An Evening of Traditional Folk Music
Join Kristoffer Andrew Ross and special guest Michael Raffel for a musical event.
Kristoffer specializes in ballads from Ireland, Britain, New York, and New England. As a singer, guitarist, and concertina and bouzouki player, he performs throughout the region and lives on his family farm in Center Cambridge, NY. Michael is a familiar performer from Hubbard Hall theater and music productions, Cambridge Central School drama club, and as lead singer in the Men o' War Balladeers. He lives in the Village of Cambridge.
In addition to solo work, Kristoffer and Michael have sung and organized the Men o’ War Balladeers, a vocal-harmony focused Celtic and Maritime Ballad band. The group produced two albums, including their 2019 release, Low Lie the Fields. More information is available at kristofferandrewross.com

10-minute Play Readings
Our 10-minute play students have been writing and perfecting plays for several months. This is the night that they go public. Come and enjoy the premiere of their plays as the playwrights hand off their work to actors and readers who will bring them alive in front of an audience.

Youth Center Art Show & Reception
Join us from March 11 - 29 to view original artwork from the kids at Greenwich Youth Center. View the exhibit during open hours in our Community Room, and celebrate these artists at a reception honoring their work on Friday March 15.

Solar Eclipse Information and Safe-Viewing Presentation
Are you ready for the Great North American Eclipse on April 8, 2024?
Our area will experience a 97-98% partial eclipse at approximately 3:27 PM on Monday April 8. The Path of Totality, where the sun will be completely eclipsed, is within a few hours' drive North or Northwest.
Greenwich Free Library is working with the Bancroft Public Library in Salem and the Salem Astronomy Club to help you prepare safely for this once-in-a-lifetime event. All participants will receive a free pair of safe-viewing eclipse glasses.

Solar Eclipse Glasses & Info Kit
If you can't make it to the event, you can still reserve glasses and an info kit to help prepare for the 2024 Eclipse. Each kit will include:
- 2 pair of safe solar viewer glasses, in compliance with the ISO 12312-2 international standard
- Safety tips
- Eclipse Info Sheet
- Instructions to build your own pinhole projector
Reserve your kit on our website beginning on March 18, and pick up at the library from March 29 - April 5. Kits are free and limited to one per household.
After-School Studio
We are thrilled to welcome Greenwich artist and ceramicist Chris Levy to the library for a very special After-School Studio event.
Come learn the Ukrainian art of pysanky, or "writing on eggs". These colorful decorated eggs are a cherished Easter-time tradition in many Eastern European countries, and creating them is a Lenten practice originating in ancient times. All materials and snacks will be provided free of charge.

Strum in Joy! Ukulele Series for Seniors
Join Chelsie of Earthbeat Music for a free 8-part beginner's ukulele program series for senior citizens (age 60+).
The Schuylerville Public Library and Greenwich Free Library are partnering up for this series, so half of the lessons will take place in Schuylerville and half in Greenwich, with the final get-together on May 15 at Hudson Crossing Park. We can only accommodate up to 14 people for this program series, and registration is required.
Many local libraries have ukuleles that may be borrowed with a library card and the instructor may also have some that could be used during lessons. Please indicate on your registration if you may need to borrow one.

Beginner Birding with Southern Adirondack Audubon Society
Join Mark Silo and John Loz from Southern Adirondack Audubon Society as they present a Beginner Birding Workshop which will discuss some readily available resources that can enhance your enjoyment of birding. A 20-minute power point presentation will showcase field guides, use of binoculars, birding locations and seasons, local clubs, some awesome new phone apps, and more, with time to ask questions indoors. Then attendees will head outdoors with Mark and John to practice what they learned. The group will look for birds, practice using binoculars, and look for field marks on birds that help identify them. A limited supply of extra binoculars will be on hand to borrow, so please bring your own if you have them.
